alright, Kaisei's turn! i feel like we kinda already know his interpretation of Death, but ill be pleasantly surprised if he doesnt fully lean into the horror angle

Akane Arakawa at her peak... yeah that performance def feels in line with that assessment, it's sweet seeing her ride the high of the post-performance and talking over a bit of her thoughts on it all (also nice seeing her state outright that she valued creating something Collaborative with the audience, art is a conversation!)

makes it scarier that Kaisei is going next tho, there's always a bigger fish but it's wild to think that he could possibly upstage a performance that wild with the same story. Dude already looks a bit like death walking up on stage, maybe he'll embody it fully in himself lol

also, only tangentially related, but the anime this weekend reminded me that Hikaru's first performance in the story was Shibahama. It would certainly make sense for Akane to look to her dad for advice since it was the last story he performed, but I can't help but wonder if we'll get to see Hikaru hang around some more as Akane learns that story next

I have a theory on what Kaisei would do and might come out on top, and it was hinted heavily several times already: it's Art of Personal.

Just like Maikeru's Changing Time, he will channel the "death" of his mother (if she already death, or just the long time feeling of she constantly in bed because of her sickness), mixing with maybe Issho as personification of God of Death himself.

I cannot imagine how Kaisei is going to top that. But I'm guessing he will or might, otherwise there would be no drama. Or maybe, the point is going to be he going to give up and not even try to top Akane? Or maybe give up? Makes you wonder what Issho would have told him to do.

This makes so much more sense! To make it such a personal story that people cannot help but make them theirs too. To make people empathize so HARD for him that he's going to move them in the way that Death moved him at the time. Good job figuring that out!

Feel like the guy who goes second has an advantage in these things

Not like, in actual rakugo, but in manga competitions, since the manga naturally needs them to surpass the predecessor to build up hype
