She stated in Chapter 56 that she hadn't gotten permission from her father to attend High School at Roubai and was going to use the performance at the festival to try and convince him. This is literally the scene that triggered Akebi's feelings for Erika because Akebi didn't want Erika to leave.

ohhh yeah, im guessing some happened after/during the festival and erika chan probably away from somewhere? thou i do hope we get a flashback soon

Your theory makes a lot of sense. Everyone looks a tad older in this ch. so the timeskip could have Komichi in HS, years after the Ferris wheel kiss & the festival. Also, to be fair, ch 56 was published ~5 years ago so it’s understandable how many could forget Erika could be elsewhere. (I did!)

You can see on p14 that she's in her first year of high school now. She's in Class 1-3 (year 1, class 3)
