Nah. It's just we're skipping the stage play. The kiss was around Autumn before the play, and now we're already in winter after the play.

There was a timeskip and certain things have been kept a mystery. We're slowly having the blanks being filled in.

This new arc seems like it's going to be tackling Komichi's "idol" tendencies to put others before herself and forcing her to figure out what she wants, that shouldn't neglect her own feelings, and that she needs to figure out what love means to her. You can already see this with things like despite being shocked Erika got confessed to immediately acknowledged the chance Erika could've had feelings for this girl. This is contrasted by Erika not even humoring a pretend breakup. And the girls kissing at school isn't a problem Komichi should be shouldering but she feels like she has to because she's the "school idol".

I dunno if chemicals in the water turns the frog gay but I do know what’s turning the girls in their school.

A sudden focus on Neko. Until now, she was portrayed as sort of a slightly eccentric but mostly sleepy side character (though occasionally shown to be physically impressive). So it’s kind of a whiplash on her backstory, similar to Togano.
