The speech bubble reads "私の教え子ぐうぜんねぇ" (watashi no oshiego guuzen nee). Oshiego = pupil, guuzen = coincidence. I read it as "A pupil of mine, what a coincidence hey?" which I English-ified into "What a coincidence! I used to be her teacher!" to make it clear the dorm mother on desk duty was someone (a teacher) who had had Yuwa-san, Akebi-chan's mother as a pupil in the past.
Translating Japanese into English usually means making that sort of change to make the speech flow more naturally -- Japanese often leaves out a lot that is inferred by the listener. In that speech bubble it's assumed "a pupil of mine" is Akebi-chan's mother from the previous speech bubble but in English it wouldn't be as obvious.
There are 3 groups translating and chapters are being skipped. SMH. Manga has very good art and is slightly ecchi and yuri. It's got a really good slice of life vibe.
@Nojay thanks for working on this. If possible, could you maybe give some insight on why the chapters are a little fragmented? Is it just that multiple groups are working on them?
@Nyarumi The "forward" chapters are omakes, specials and one-page items like the Thank You GIF which didn't take a lot of time to translate and edit so I (and others) could do them in a couple of hours max.
For me a complete chapter of Akebi-chan with 30 or 40 pages might take maybe thirty hours of Butt In Chair Fingers On Keyboard (BICFOK) work over a week or so, sometimes more if I have to spend time checking references and weird stuff -- for example looking up the non-Jouhou kanji that was part of the name of the school, Roubai (aka wintersweet) took a couple of days effort on the Internet. Being able to blat out a short omake chapter like "When She Changes Her Uniform" (Ch 13.5) keeps me going when the grinding gets tough. I'd not do such a chapter if it affected the story line or plot but after the intro chapters Akebi-Chan no Serafuku is a Countryside/School Slice Of Life series and there really isn't anything like plot, drama etc. happening.
@Nojay Ah, I see. I wasn't trying to insult your work or anything, I was more curious about why the releases were a little different from normal. Hopefully I didn't make you feel bad about anything.
Actually, this author wants to make a story or visual making book? Lol
Compared to ecchi, I think this gives more fetishism. Something pure, something soothing. It's beautiful, really.
But this is not for one's thrill of fantasy.
A Pretty accurate description of this series is "SEMEN DEMON", This author can draw everyone so well on chapter 33, I turn lolicon, gay and milf hunter now
