I SWEAR TO GOD SOMEONE BETTER TRANSLATE THOSE FEW LAST CHAPTERS BCS THEY BETTER NOT END UP BEING DOOMED i mean it seems like Mai wakes up in the last page of the chapter that've been translated but still THEY CAN'T BE DOOMED
I was super into this and how it was written espc the beginning, still i think i'll give it 8/10 because the cough, hospital, arc felt so out of the blue and rushed to me. Its surprising to me that this is the author intent and not due to axing that the ending feels so rushed, but thats the reason why its a 8/10.
However i really do like this manga and i feel it potrays life as a young lesbian really realistically and sweetly, even down to still talking with your ex it genuinely made me burst out laughing. But i like how misunderstandings gets solved via communication and quickly and with the 2 genuinely understanding each other. Unlike other mangas where it drags on and on forever or it gets solved immediately and you dont actually feel them getting closer or any development at all. I like how arcs and conflicts are introduced and portrayed, its not something like a childish misunderstanding between the two but people and situations that deepen both the main characters and their relationship, and also provide an understandable and believable conflict. I like the parfaits sections too, I like that it's not the entire focus of the manga/a chapter but morso used as a means of common interest between the 2, which is really nice and realistic to me. Reading the ingredients also makes me hungry tho.
i read all of this, and the only thing i could say is, holy fucking shit.
to preface, i am a BIG sweet tooth. i crave everything sweet. i'm a big fan of parfaits and confectionary, so when you make a manga about two girls kissing and making parfaits, i am going to eat it up like it's my last day living. the story follows mai, a university student working in a parfait cafe, who meets lily in her [lily's] first day of fork (which she later quit). despite that, these two started to date, and the manga revolves around their dates and relationship, as well as lily's devil powers and their differences in love. i liked their "trying to share their true feelings" arc, and the interesting theme of
a contract with a devil, where when one dies after making a contract, they will go to hell. it's basically an internal battle between lily's human and devil self.
i also found
lily's experience with being half devil and half human interesting. i also feel like it resonates with me in a way, but not really. the need to feel normal and be normal, i can relate deeply.
also, another thing i like (and something that resonated with me deeply was
runa's relationship with love. i have always felt the same as her, i just don't know the feeling of love. she knew that her love with mai was not the same as mai's love, so she pretty much accepted it and broke up with her, even if she didn't mean to make her feel bad. i was literally going to cry reading those chapters because of how relatable she is. she's incredible aroace representation, and we don't even get represented that often.
although,
the accident arc was quite... rushed? mai does a deemo reference where she gets hit by a truck (if i had one dollar for everytime a character i liked gets hit by a truck, i would have two dollars, it's not much, but it's weird that it happened two times.) she's in critical condition and lily decides to give her soul to mai, which she would've died if she did, but she didn't. the time skip was awkward as well, we didn't get enough explaination on their relationship after that and how they adapt, but we do know that only her human soul is left, which is the reason why her hair turned white, maybe?
despite that, i enjoyed this manga! it's a really sweet manga and i get to know more facts about confectionary. right now, i am currently craving parfaits. 9.5/10.
