I believe it was specifically Official229 re-adding in a credits joke that got removed because of implied N-word (whether or not implied word jokes are bad is a seperate topic, they did in fact do something against the mod's wishes which is always a no-no if you aren't self-hosting).

I personally didn't mind the joke, since pretty much all jokes that don't harass someone specifically are okay in my book.

But yeah as you said, going against the mod team is basically an outcome set in stone, especially if you have no leverage or power to do so successfully.

Knights of Earl Grey are non-active and for practical purposes basically dissolved, because their main TL, RD and TS all got a life (unlike us).

Uh... I have the same opinion as everybody else here, ultimately it was No Group Scans responsibility to not be banned here on Mangadex, not your responsibility to cater to them. After here, I know the had moved ComicK.dev, but that site got nuked by publishers and are no longer hosting, just kinda redirecting like what mangaupdates does.

If you want to keep things friendly, try messaging them back and agreeing to stop translating the series, only under the condition that they get themselves unbanned and start uploading here on MangaDex again. Really, it sounds like they got banned from MangaDex, so now they're banning MangaDex from hosting Villainess Level 99 chapters. That's really not how this works.

Or you can try teaming up with them. They do have the remaining few chapters translated.

As for the rest of the series, I hope people don't misunderstand, it's not that nobody is releasing chapters on Mangadex, it's just that no chapters have really released for the past while. Last I checked, this series gets one or two chapters per year. If you're really eager to read the story, you can find the web novel being translated by Moon's Tavern, with almost five volumes translated at the moment. There's six volumes total... Not sure when the author's coming back, they haven't posted a chapter since the beginning of 2024.

Absolute shame. It's not like it's their scans you're using, you're doing your own work. Since they're banned they basically don't exist for all intents and purposes.

Like @Avres said, you can try teaming up with them so you can post their works for them on mangadex, but other than that I just say keep going. Its the equivalent of someone getting mad you're getting into a fancy club when they were thrown out ten minutes earlier.

I read the afterwords, but you TL what u like. There's a few people that do the same manga, some people like certain teams style/translations/way of things. I've enjoyed your uploads, so if u wish to keep doing it, go for it.

I never understood why "sniping" is such a big deal anyways, why can't a series get multiple interested translation group at the same time?

Sniping is a problem for several reasons

1) As I said in my earlier post, this hobby works best when groups cooperate and spread out to cover as much ground as possible. Every time there are multiple groups doubling up on a series that represents time that could've been spent on another manga that isn't getting a timely/accurate/good translation. And if you're a group that wants something to work on, why would you choose to work on something that's already being done instead of something that needs attention?

2) If there was no respect for territory and not overlapping the work of another group you'd end up with a lot of groups, especially the paywhore/money-beggar ones, just focusing on doing the most popular series to get the most eyeballs on their work and the greatest chance of earning money from people. What would suffer would be the less popular but still loved manga like this one that wouldn't get the same amount of attention

3) For a group that's translating it can be extremely demoralizing to have some others just drop in out of nowhere and start working on the series they do, especially if the new group does a worse job but releases faster/more chapters and the non-discerning part of the audience loudly goes "this translation is fine, it's totally readable and I don't care that it's not better". I have seen groups that have just up and quit working on a series because some trash-tier translator moved in and claim-jumped them with garbage output that people happily lapped up. That ends up depriving the people who like quality work from getting manga done with attention and care instead of just being half-assed MTL/ai-redraw slop that reads like it's from someone who doesn't speak English and also has severe brain damage.

4) It's just basic decency. It costs nothing to be respectful of the work and effort of others and it's good karma/community-building to let people who are doing the job keep doing it while you find something else that fills a hole. That way everyone wins.

Well for starters if they all covered a different series we'd see a lot more series translated rather than doubling up work on one. That being said, some groups are better than others and having a choice isn't the worst either.

theres a score of reasons why but here's 3 of em.
1. shows a lack of curtesy
2. typically snipers will grab a popular series to generate some money off donations and then drop it after a few chapters which results in a series being dropped entirely cause legit TLer gets demoralized by it.
3. unless its a collab sort of thing no one wants to work on the same series other groups are working on cause its typically faster to just do it yourself then have to wait for the other groups to finish their work.

#2 is a big one and its why snipers have a shit reputation as many series have died off from being translated over sniping. for NovelUpdates they have a strict rule about snipers which they enforce quite heavily. if you are caught sniping a series the entire community comes together to shit on you for it and the mods will flat out ban any linking to your site from NUs.

Manga has had as many translators as the reincarnated dragon manga. The update speed is slower than life. If they are banned then who cares. Sniping happens all the time and if you posting gets them in gear I’m all for it. I hate when tls hoard a manga and never get to it unless someone else comes by. Iv been with this manga from the start when earl grey miaed, and I just want to enjoy this manga at this point.
