He also got completely smitten when he saw the heroine in the previous chapter so he has literally zero excuse. This chapter just cemented it.

You kidding? He looked shocked then looked away like that. Thats not the look of someone flabbergasted, he looked ashamed and guilty.

I will just assume you are bad at reading facial cues because not only did he fail to open his mouth in protest, he turned his head and looked down afterwards. She literally says to herself that "he can't even respond" while standing right in front of him for several seconds before leaving. Check the exam chapter again. He calls Saint "beautiful" right next to MC after she heals herself. He is, at the very least, infatuated with the saint and according to game's story, he will fall in love in mere days afterwards. MC's fuck up was unintentionally showing her power and disrupting the flow.

Ok, going through that... Calling someone else beautiful isn't quite the admission of fondness you may think it is. And really, it doesn't change much. She was set on her course from the start, and assumed stuff about him. Is she right? Perhaps, perhaps not, but considering the story, she'll most likely be, on some level. Though, this being an otome game manga... Isn't it a staple for the game's story to either not matter at all, or be wildly different (butterfly effect and all) from what the MC remembers?
Lest we forget, Slayer is, at the moment, an unreliable narrator, her worldview warped by her goal to survive a story she thinks she knows by heart.
