Isn't the game story still like a decade away? Maximilian dude would surely be 30, minimum, already at that point, yet would be a romantic target for the high school age MC? Seems like the otome game catered to every audience type.

Ricardo who is a Marquis second son got Liberty pregnant. His grandfather is the one that had her sent away.

The Queen's carrage nearly ran Liberty over, at which point the Queen noticed the pregnant woman's mana wavelength being similar to the royal line. And took her in.

Its assumed Liberty is the bastard child of a royal, and her child Tiania is the bastard child of Ricardo.

My speculation.

There was mention of the King's brother in a conversation between the Prince and the Queen. My WAG is Liberty is the King's bastard niece and the Queen is charge of cleaning up the mess.

It does look like she's the bastard child of a royal, and it looks like the teacher realized this too and wanted to use her for his gain somehow. Maybe he also expected her to come back or be easy to find and kidnap later and got shocked when he learned she was taken in by the Queen instead.

Makes you wonder if after this attack, the Queen will be more steadfast about separating Liberty from her child to prevent Liberty's child from ever being kidnapped and used as a figurehead for a potential uprising, etc.

this is a common trope in otome game manga (i'm not sure if it happens in real otome games, because some tropes like the existence of a villainess are just made up).
you usually have 1 older character, usually a teacher, one shota character and then a bunch of diverse ikemen.

Removal could include finding another to take her place, unless they are complete asshats, then finding a way for them to fall from grace and then quietly disappeared is the preferred option.

Which as long as the King didnt marry into the Queen's family, would include the King's brother.

It does look like she's the bastard child of a royal, and it looks like the teacher realized this too and wanted to use her for his gain somehow. Maybe he also expected her to come back or be easy to find and kidnap later and got shocked when he learned she was taken in by the Queen instead.

The teacher was sitting in the background as Ricardo's grandfather placed him on house arrest and banished Liberty.

So while true the teacher could have cooked up some scheme on his own, it's more likely he is just a retainer of the Marquis. And in the old man's infinite wisdom, he has decided that bastard or not, Liberty would make for a wonderful pawn and foot into the royal castle.

It's a fine resolution, I guess. Kinda hoping for something more interesting, though. And more hangings.

Maybe it's the way the panels are structured, but that carriage looks like it smacked that lady good. Let's take the weight of a fancy coach like that one (2-2.5 short tons), two draught horses (each about 1,500lbs to a ton, let's say combined 1.5 short tons), moving at a canter through the streets (about 10-15mph).

My math says, she's severely injured or killed if hit full force and the horses trample her. It's possible she was just grazed and swept off her feet, but those cobbled streets are a hard surface to land on.
