Thanks for the translation! I think the pacing is fine, it'll read well in volume form. Excited for Karina's return.
I thought so too, that she liked her sister and maybe even wanted to take the prince to free her from the unwanted marriage caused by her illness. But on the other hand, why would she only act after the prince sent assassins that failed? If she was nice she should have tried to prevend sending assassins at all. So I'm interested which one it will be.I feel like the stuffed animal chapter showed us the sister Aurora's true intentions. If she really hated her sister so much why would she hold onto that stuffed animal for years. I interpreted her trying to give a the stuffed animal back to Karina as her almost saying, "This is my treasure that I'm giving back to you to show I'm on your side." Seeing how Karina interprets it as the sister belittling her obviously her intentions do not come through to Karina.
I also saw and love that foil aspect with Eve and Juno's relationship.Interesting that the discussion this week is on "unwanted" and "wanted marriages" as it's still something that Karina's going through. Like Juno points out, Karina wanted the marriage because she was trying to fill the role set out for her. Motivation we see in chapter 1 where she explains why she acted as she did. But she's now in her own "unwanted" marriage with Reshutoka. One that was again thrust upon her without any real consent.
This chapter also highlights the foil aspect of Eve and Juno's relationship when compared to Karina and Reshutoka. Unlike our two protagonists, these two can actually maintain some distance without diminishing their feelings. Karina keenly feels abandoned if left alone for any period of time and Reshutoka is suffocatingly clingy. So it makes me wonder if we'll ever see them properly communicate like these two do.
I feel like you nailed it.I also saw and love that foil aspect with Eve and Juno's relationship.
However, I think Juno's final thoughts are about as close as we are going to get to Karina's thoughts and feelings leading up to first chapter. Karina was the "model daughter" (read as "good girl" like Juno mentioned) in the eyes of her parents because whenever she asked or was given something, Aurora came first. So she learned to stop asking, stop voicing her complaints and instead put on a mask to become the "good girl" to live up to her family's expectations.
I think if Reshutoka didn't try to fit Karina into her dream of an ideal "Princess", then Karina and Resh's relationship would be more like Eve and Juno right now.
But, because Resh tried to fit Karina into a box and held expectations of her being the same princess as the story book, Karina put her mask back on to be the ideal "Princess".
