Back then, the phone is not the norm tbh. Even desk phone is kinda annoy to search for the number or contact than go there and ask directly

Of course the phone was normal. Everyone who had a phone, which was most people who had a house/apartment, would also have a phone book. Something like a school would be listed in it, 100%. Of course it wasn't as convenient as a cell phone, plus you'd pay for every minute. Still a whole lot more convenient than going to school while under a suspension.
