Would have been still dark? Yes, but it would have been realistic and would have given Washio more fuel for the readers to like him for what he's doing instead of "lucky guy that somehow is super powerful and has a harem nº567655157".

Author tries to create psudo-NTR plotline and it gets universally panned
Tries to double back and handwave all that crap away, but has Drako fall for the very serum she was investigating
Washio, who up to this point had avoided openly using his power even to the detriment of literally everyone else, decides to now use his power when this whole stupid arc would have already been over after a single conversation with Drako about her suspicions regarding Julius
All this just makes the Royal Family look bad for employing Drako as an enforcer due to the collateral damage she is doing right now while berserk
And just watch the Author pivot to but Drako's real goal was to force Washio to stop hiding and use his real power so they can get their summoned hero back

ポッと出のマッドサイエンティストがこんな感じで完成だーってなる展開も他にあるんじゃない? ある程度はそういった予想もしようよ。
確かに、ニュース記事かなんかでモン娘が暴走する事件をワシオ先生が読む伏線なりあっても良かった気がするけど、別にそこまでじゃない。
You don’t really have to make such forced criticisms. Julius’ past, though not fully revealed, clearly involved considerable research and achievements and that’s what’s blossomed here.
There must be other stories where a suddenly appearing mad scientist just declares “It’s complete!” like this, right? We should at least consider those possibilities.
Sure, I feel like it would have been nice if there had been some foreshadowing, like a news article about a monster girl rampaging that Dr. Washio reads or something, but it’s not really that important.

The light hearted monster girl fluff manga that I started reading is gone, no matter how many retcons this author will try, it won't erase the fact that the tried dabbling in bullshit.
