I really like this series, but the first mission really needed to be leaner. This went on for so long, and felt tedious to read as it came out. I'm sure binging it all in one go is great, but one at a time was an exercise in patience.
I imagine this series likely lost a good portion of its initial audience because of this, unfortunately.

I dunno what to feel about this series. At first I kind of expecting something like 'Isekai Serial Killer' type of assassination, but I should've known with how the author make the MC so OP, that would be impossible.

Probably my problem is with how the mangaka presenting the battle scenes, this chapter feels like the MC is actually capable to win in magic battle (but ended up using the needle because he is an assassin), rather than he made the flashy attack as a distraction for the poison needle since he has no other way to win (despite that's what actually happened).
Probably just me, but that's what I thought.

I'll stick around for the next arc to see the next assassination.

Ninja's aren't supposed to be flashy either, but we still got a highly popular series like Naruto.

Nah, Ninja are basically versatile mercenaries and in legends, they were also wizards... jack of all trades.

They CAN be assassins. and are even famous for it... but don't have to be....

So Naruto made sense. They used the magic and mercenary duty... with Ninja taking up multiple different jobs.... which matched ninja... and Naruto did have ninja that were hidden assassins...

It wasn't just the flashiness, but the fact that this was the first battle and first chance to show off our boy as an assassins.

It's not like I wouldn't expect this kinda thing for the FIRST battle.

The fact that it took 14 chapters and 4 volumes for the very first battle and in a situation where he's drastically more advanced... this first battle should have instead have been to show off the advantage of the MC's advanced equipment...

And maybe he could have this level of struggle in the next battle...

All those epic attacks weren't distractions. All of them were intended to kill. The needle was not the true attack, but rather the true trump card.

A true assassin is a "any means necessary" kind of guy, I guess? Plans don't always go as expected, so if it comes down to pummeling the target's face, you better bruise your knuckles.

The needle was the original plan that was put on hold when the MC found out about the target's divine protection barrier. The true trump card was the Soul Destruction spell, but when it failed the MC saw that the barrier was destroyed and he switched back to his original poison needle plan.

At the end of the day, an assassination is basically a guy being killed. If the target's dead, it doesn't matter if he was killed in his sleep, or if the city he's in explodes. Dead is dead.

The next arc is just him doing the "slow life" trope. Hunting, cooking, befriending animals and mythical beasts. Who knows, maybe even the famous academy or adventurer arc because I absolutely don't know where the hell are they going with the story with this much powerscaling at the start.
