I hate these forced kidnapping tropes. there was exactly zero reasons mc should have prioritized "the city" over his own people. he's not the hero, why would he suddenly act like one. Stupid plot. Story was already just hanging by a tiny thread of being interesting and just dropped it down a bottomless pit for no reason.
