Just because its smut doesnt mean it cant have a great story and/or beautiful display of romance. A good example for that is Maou Iburogia ni Mi wo Sasageyo. Alot of smut, i would even consinder it porn, yet it pulls of a great story, wholesome romance and a pretty realistic display of communitcation in relationships. To say it doesnt need to have a good plot just because its a smut story, is a insult to all the doujins out there which put the effort in and really bring it home :/

Asumi finally experiencing what it feels like to be the one, who gives. Especially with someone, who isn't just a one-night stand and precious to her, to some degree.

I really like Asumi and Nanao's chemistry but can't say if I prefer her because we have yet to even really see Asumi and Mai interact. Author needs to get back to that soon. But for now I'll enjoy Asumi getting her ass destroyed.

Turns out having a premise where your "main" couple are never allowed to actually meet isn't very conducive to positively developing that relationship in the slightest. Honestly, it'd be a pretty realistic turn for Asumi give up on her old crush who she hasn't seen in years and has no reason to believe she'll ever manage to meet again. But since it's a manga, I wouldn't hold my breath on that.

All that aside, the title has always been "interested in lesbian brothels", not "interested in finding her childhood crush", so I don't really see how Asumi learning from these experiences and applying them is in any way betraying the original promise of the narrative.

The thing is she got interested because she wanted to find Mai in the first place so she is still linked to it. I would had no problem with where we're right now if we didn't had the childhood friend premise and it was just Asumi having fun going to lesbian brothels.
I have no problem with Nanao, she is a good character.

Just because it's smut doesn't mean it can't have story. The erotic elements can be very effective in enhancing the story and the characters.

Refer to the middle paragraph. This is the afterword of the 3rd chapter of 16bit Sensation by Wakaki Tamiki. Eroticism being used to enhanced other elements of the story is not a new thing.

I don't think any of the current plot betrays the original premise. I'm pretty sure Asumi will have a dilemma about continuing the search for Mai or being with Nanao, but somehow Mai and Asumi will meet and there will be a conflict between the two love interests. Or it can go in another direction, either way, there are definitely options where the story can continue without betraying the premise. If you think about it, the original premise would've been pretty "boring" with Asumi just having sex with dozens of Mais colleagues without any drama or rivals.

Like yeah i got that its smut and she was already doing that with others, but now putting love into the story with someone else while her whole goal was just to find her friend, now shes falling for her and WE DIDNT EVEN GOT ONE PANEL FOR US WHO SHIP HER WITH MAI?! I fucking hate it here
I just hope it continues with the plot and not just end it like this with her forgetting about mai and her life is now all pink bc she found “love” lol

Same here! I adored this series in the early days but this is pretty bad, I really don't like this new girl, the Mai storyline is what kept me going

She wanted to find Mai because they got separated before she really understood what was going on back then and regrets the way she acted. That doesn't mean that they are star-crossed lovers, just that she wants to meet again and get closure for what's been bugging her all this time. Obviously Mai means a lot to her, but she didn't even understand the romantic implications until she left and she hasn't seen her since. It didn't seem like she was holding out for her either, just that it never worked out for her and she never got the chance to get into a relationship
