censors add to the comedy imo, tho that's more contextual when it comes to reference jokes (think of like faces with black bars over the eyes when talking about a famous person, that's funnier (or at least more layered) than just showing their face normally)

i think the censored jokes really only work when it's an easily recognizable reference. far too often the references are beyond vague and only recognizable to a very few even among locals.
