It definitely is, but there's a big misunderstanding that made it worse: Americans and the rest of the world have different names for political tendencies.
In the USA, a liberal is someone who's for social justice and equality, for taxes and welfare programs, like Obama.
Everywhere else, a liberal is someone who's for free markets and a deregulated economy, like the Austrian economics movement.

Ignorance feeds this fear and misunderstanding, just like ignorance feeds this mindset behind banning this media in Australia. If you ban it, it will go away right?

The whole mindset that existed behind "NIMBY" and nuclear power stations "Not in my back yard" If I object loud enough, it'll be someone else's problem right? Meanwhile, they've cut their own nose off to spite their faces because sooner or later those "NIMBY" bylaws that they've written into the books will be used to take away their own personal freedoms sooner or later down the line. (Downsizing or down funding of federal parks in the USA, removing creatures from protected species lists worldwide, putting hydro-electric and general dams in less populated but more ecologically damaging places because again "Not in my back yard" or "Out of sight, out of mind" causing a range of environmental problems like flooding @ Hoah Binh hydroelectric dam in Vietnam,

Or droughts in other larger bodies of water when China creates dams which alter the flows of water and causes droughts Tonlé Sap Lake.

Blocking Japanese imports, or censoring it will lead to further censoring of freedoms and liberties by other narrow minds later down the road. It will have unforeseen repercussions that will affect Australia greatly.... For what? Animated and Drawn fictional characters whom are presented as adults, drawn youthfully?

This is a misrepresentation as well as an oversimplification. Just like the banning of porn depicting underage fictional characters, causes that are claimed to be in the name of progress by supporters aren't innately constructive.

@bigtiddyoneesan is it? You're probably right... But in my community of progressive/liberals, this is how we're perceived. We propose social & economic change that brings forth a premise that meets the words "All men are created equal" which is on our declaration of independence...

Our two party system here is FUBAR'd, and "the other party" is easily led by ignorance and fear... While those of us on the progressive & liberal side are easily led around by our emotions... Unfortunately, we rarely are able to meet in the middle and discuss things on a factual basis. The ignorant party is certain that facts & statistics are outright lies and falsehoods, and our liberal/progressive side likes to spend a little too much in order to achieve social/societal/economic recovery & progress. *shrug* It's complex and could make for a beautiful in-depth zoom debate since a coffee discussion is impossible due to covid

Discussion is a beautiful way to come in the middle and hopefully open minds. Thanks for your comment, You're right I do misrepresent because I wear my biases on my sleeve. I also oversimplify because I'm too used to dealing with "the other party" who has less interest in reading an in-depth and researched "paper" (my arguments... lol) on how I feel things could be better ^.^
