It's really hard to differentiate Savior Complex and just simply helping another person. But I believe that the guy just wanted to help. Y'all weirdos that seriously saying "I can fix her" with their whole heart and soul, are the ones that have savior complex. Fix your attitude.
bro confessed his interest in like the 4th chapter and called her pretty

that nigga is not tryna help to help

I'm surprised the school hasn't expelled her yet, for looking so rough every day. After all, if the school doesn't care about her mutilated state from a child welfare point of view, then you'd think they wouldn't like her from a school image point of view.
Don't worry, she's homeschooled and the MC is a figment of the self-protective imagination of a broken mind. :worry:

In her state, that certainly wouldn't be out of the question.

it would be interesting to see this series ending with the girl not getting better or maybe even dying either by her mother's continued abuse or by suicide, but more than anything I simply sincerely hope that it does not go down the typical route of "girl falls in love with PoV MC for no real reason" because those stories seem to be a dime a dozen and they are so bland imo

if we, for a moment, disregard the absurdity of the school and authorities ignoring the obvious abuse, I simply find it somewhat "refreshing" to see a series that depicts someone hopeless and depressed (without doing the Mahou Shoujo Site thing and only going for despair porn) who is still alive despite to some extent wanting to die

like yeah some people genuinely have extremely shitty and awful lives that make them long for an escape in death but they continue living in spite of that (for a number of different possible reasons) and I have been lacking depictions of that in media, so hey hit me up if you have any recommendations

I get that this is not the most realistic of settings and scenarios to many people, but I personally quite enjoy it

Depends on the school, and if there is a teacher who cares about their students. I went to a rough school and there were people abusing every substance imaginable and there were some abused people, abusers and such but there was little people could do because everyone just tried to get through the day. Teachers tried but you could be putting yourself in danger getting involved and getting protective services involved was just as bad because there was widespread abuse in foster families. Pretty depressing situation either way.
I bet your school 🏫 has high count of suicides. When you see the classmate stop going to school, you know.

Yeah, it wasn't great, I would say most people probably had depression, ended up addicted to some substance, but a couple make it out, so that's good. The feeling of pointlessness and worthlessness is probably the hardest to overcome, it's just sad to see a lot people succumb due to their situation

I can relate to that. I had a friend once bullied to death, so before his mental health degraded, his parents removed him from the school. Good to see he is still alive this day and has a bae after 20 years.

Im pretty sure in Japan, unless the kid asks for the help of the teachers or police, they can't do anything and expelling her would be just worse wouldnt it?

Japan is the country where, when a random tourist asks school kids where the nearest post office might be, the police will issue a public warning in the neighbourhood that a suspicious individual has been seen approaching children, and all parents and school staff should pay extra attention to the children's safety. I don't feel like this fits together with a mutilated school kid getting ignored if she doesn't complain about it.

Expelling her was just a sarcastic joke, considering the school doesn't care about the marks of brutal everyday violence she's subjected to. It's also a known fact that many Japanese schools have gone extremely far to deny any accusations of school bullying in order to preserve the school's public image.

you are not wrong actually, doesnt need to be foreigner to approach a school girl to be already a police case.

But accusing the parents of child abuse is a whole different beast, and all the kid needs to say is "no this is nothing" and the cops and the ones responsible for child protection to back off and be able to do anything.

Seriuslly, proving that the kids are actually being abused is complicated as fuck. Its hard to even prove that kids are being bullied...

If the child could not speak, she is bullied. Bullying can and in some countries come from pedo parents. It is disgusting but yes, there are many crimes happening inside a household even in 1st world countries.

Its never so simple because children are quite impressionable, thats why its so hard to prove this cases, and I quite disagree, many abusive households are not rly because of pedo parents at all...

Hard to say what is the most dominant case but pretty sure a huge chunk if bot most is just abuse of power physical and verbal. I mean I came from a household like this and it was quite japanese in its core... Classic loving parents that dont hold back "correcting" the children, but in Brazil at least the level of abuse would not pass at all in here....

Sadly Japan is another country/morals/values
