Be able to download covers for manga

I’d like to download the covers for manga in the best definition possible

whenever I drag from the image to the desktop it’s a link

Screenshots don’t have the best definition

Maybe just a button to download the image?

Is Right Click + Save Image As not good enough?

the other alternative is to get off of a retail website such as Bookwalker, eBookJapan, etc

Yeah for some reason I can't right click and save covers as an image... Pretty annoying

It looks like in the lightbox view, the image is covered up by transparent navigation elements. Chrome seems to correctly identify that you might want to be interacting with the image underneath for the purposes of saving images, but other browsers might not be so generous.

If downloading covers is supposed to be kosher, a lil' direct download link amongst the information down below might not be remiss. Though I also understand if you wanna deter hotlinking.

How about draging the covers onto browser tabs so that you can view the images and right-click download from there?

Oh, wait, you can just right click on the small thumbnails in the gallery and "Save LINK as". Clicking them does one thing but underneath they're a direct link to the cover image itself.

@MrIncognito Yeah, the @MavB_Ver solution works as well.

I don’t use Chrome a majority of the time because Chrome uses up too much damn memory.

It just feels like it would be really simple to just put an imgur gallery link in the Covers section to simplify things.

Why use imgur when MD already has its own image servers lol
Aside from that, yeah it can be simplified by creating a download button underneath the thumnails. But I guess the devs don't expect this behavior in other browsers, and it's just such trivia of a matter.

Click the image -> save the image as (by right-clicking it)

Works for desktop.

you could use inspect element and find the link to the image (ctrl shift i or f12)
sure, it's somewhat of a tedious solution that could be easily fixed, but it's not that big of a problem for most people
The image quality might be bad, but you could just as easily upscale with many of the free web tools online

Cmon it's not like you read it on CR manga or Bookwalker that use flash or blahblah, it's html5 (kind of that) means easy as heck to save it.

As in, you're not right-clicking an image, you're right-clicking an invisible link, and Chrome is the only browser that says "oh but there's an image underneath that, the meatsack might think it's just right-clicking the image"

Are you talking about the small thumbnail in the gallery and not the lightbox popup? Because if you right click and select "save IMAGE as" on that one, you get a low-res thumbnail.

EDIT: Nvm, looks like Firefox does it right as well. I dunno what @QSS is doing or what browser they're using.

Luckily, opening the link in a new tab works.
