I had to take a spit take when he put that bird back up there. How scary. I'd rather the author stuck with him being cruel and aloof till the end. It felt so weird seeing him like that?? Gentle to the weak?? Did she forget that he nearly killed her and killed that other princess in the beginning??

This is my first time commenting.. actually i prefer to read comments only.. but i want to say something about reader who are wondering why chloe dont feel sad when archduke is the one that killed her family.. the family that you guys talk about is not the kind of family that she care for or has a strong bond with her.. dont you guys remember she said that she is a slave initially before her father take her in only to be married to a lunatic who always beats her.. the husband even willing to trade her for some lands.. she even mention she rather die than living like that.. eventhough she almost get killed for being a princess the archduke spare her.. i dont know but she look happy when she finally free from that family.. so instead of hate she might be grateful to the archduke...

Birds don't recognize their young by smell, it's perfectly fine to put them back. It's just that most baby birds found outside the nest are fledglings, old enough that they're trying to leave on their own (and their parents don't usually care much about them at that point).
