He referred to her as a “Chinese Yōkai”. Sounds like the Spirit Realm could be welcoming any friendly anomalies from across the globe.

They’ve been around since Chapter 11. They’re called “Net Lore” in JP, essentially Japanese Creepypasta. I would’ve used Urban Legend but this manga already used it more than once as a synonym even in JP.

I felt Creepypasta was a much more fitting name for them since they’re the “New & Modern Kids” on the Anomaly block.

I think for right now Tōjurō’s aiming for the staff since it seems to be spawning & controlling the Creepypastas. Freeing the Yōkai is kind of a top priority. If freed, I feel the Yōkai are going to have a great time returning that guy’s “kindness in full” (if Suzune allows it, I hope he does).

She kinda already did with the Sea Serpent. It wouldn’t surprise me if that happens. Though, I feel destroying the new guy’s staff may play a part as well.

I'm assuming the cube things are directly controlled by the staff, since it has a similar aura with all those black characters that initially infected Behemoth and were swirling around the cubes.
And, it looks like there's a similar construct at the head of the staff, making it potentially a nexus point so this guy can control everything from wherever he is.

Destroy the staff, destroy the nexus point, turn off all the cubes - and maybe it'll render the Creepypasta "inert", if not outright destroy them, which should hopefully save & return the consumed yokai.

I'm more than assuming the antagonist will escape--no shot this dude isn't going to be a recurring villain, unless he's somehow a random low-/mid-tier mob taking orders from some higher entity, which would make him much more expendable.

But like @TL-Law said, saving the yokai takes priority. So.
