I like how pretending to not like pokemon (or just nerdy things in general) in middle school seems to be a universal experience lol.

I remember that there was a social group of people in high school like that. They were super nice people but since there were furries, yu-gi-oh autists, and mlp fanboys/girls mixed in it ended up being seen as a weird group.

I suppose this was the case, (I grew apart from my elementary friends and went to read books, but if it weren't for that I suppose I wouldn't have met my current friends.) if anything ff: usually people who aren't able to find relatable groups in reality, they will lean towards escapism in books. book lovers doesn't exactly mean loners but they just find it troublesome to interact with people or have a hard time maintaining relationships
