I look how even though it seemingly has a simple answer because if you date someone who technically the "same" person but with two personalities, legally you'd be able to marry them.

The awkwardness comes in when you realize that humans aren't that perfect and things like jealousy, conflicts of interest, etc. and these two may still want him to be closer to one than the other
