I think maybe he is thinking about more to the bravery n base physical strength, on the normal day u dont want to send the womans as a vanguard n let them die bcz of it n tend to keep them at mid-rear and let them attack or support from there...
+ it's still only day 1 afternoon/night so the current reality still not seeping enough on his brain...
