Probably author trying to be different. Like every heroine in this kind of story falls for the MC or gets a reverse harem. It's the first time a heroine fell in love with some random character. Like real random character, not like the "mob" MCs.

It's... not working out well though. Seems you don't like it. Neither do I. I was thinking she might like the MC, with all the previous "being honest with yourself" under the starlight just a couple of chapters ago.
