Reading this comments section has me realized that some of y'all motherfuckers need to g2b to school and relearn reading comprehension

His skills aren't failing, his HP is dropping cause of a weird "disease" everytime he uses a skill.

His HP when his license was revoked was less than a newbie adventurer, it was literally too dangerous for him to take on quests.

For those saying "Oh he should have tried dispelling curse anyway". That'd be like going to a doctor and getting a diagnosis where you clearly, very obviously, have cancer, but then you say "let's try that cure for respiratory illness, just in case".

there is a difference between the doctor saying you have cancer, and him saying: you are losing blood but we don't know where it is going.
there is no bleeding and it isn't leukemia (or other blood cancer), the doctor says: 'your blood is literally disappearing, like poof and its gone'.
so what would one do in such situation? if you have money or skills or connections, the answer is everything available. from trial medicine, to natural medicine, to supernatural rituals, whatever they can think of. people do everything to live if they can.
now in his situation, fantasy, what would one do? try every single available magical healing and similar spells on himself and then any medicine/pill/herb/whatever, trying to see what do good and what do harm/nothing, to the point he would be sick of it and as broken as one can and maybe even die trying if he really wants to be cured.
dispel would not be the first thing on the list, sure, but it wouldn't be that far down on it. he should have the means, he doing it or knowing someone to cast it or where to find it, and he would do it soon while he has still power (like when he confirms he is really losing HP) and not waste it all the way to almost 'noob level' on some random quests. one for sure wouldn't wait without doing nothing and only sit around, right?
but this is whatever, the author can do anything they want and that is that, but it still will feel off for quite a few of us since there is some questionable choices there and there was simple not enough explaining.for me particularly i took it will a bit of salt, sure doesn't make sense, but it is there basically to be the starting point,. without it he would still be the 'hero employee', hopefully i don't find much more questionable choices later on, but if it keeps appearing i will simple move on.

@Wilhelm_Stenvall Middle age kind of implies an age range that's in the middle of the average lifespan. I'm not sure how you're arriving at 50 from him calling himself middle aged at 37 no matter how I look at it though? If anything, if he's middle aged at 37 then I'd say 50 is possibly still middle aged. Our current definition of that term is to the tune of like 45-65, after all.

Either way though, affordability and availability. The average person may not be able to use magic themselves or afford the services of others who can, so the presence of magic doesn't mean all that much for them unless someone happens by and helps them out with no interest in compensation.

Well out from the gate we are not doing Isekai or Trapped in Game but we still have the dumb status windows and HP. Also the guy was a top ranked wizard and apparently no friends or money. They also establish that the "Hero's" party is a bunch of assholes to older folk/ past comrades which really is weird because the staple wizard is all about being an old dude with a long beard being really wise. The art just draws him as your ordinary MC with a bit of stubble. If we are latching on the new trend of Fantasy world Dad manga this one started off poorly. Fenrir is the name of a giant wolf that eats the world and slays gods but for some reason he describes and approaches it as if it was a friendly monster. The world also establishes they have no use for adventurers that can't do missions. You would think that a top rank wizard would make a great teacher but they kick his ass to the curb even though the guild master says he is revoking his license because he is going to kill himself. Its like a care, not care kind of relationship. The actions are not matching the words.

The problem here and like many other mangas of the Fantasy RPG setting is the would building and society is almost always really crap. I expect within a few chapters we will be seeing all the dumb tropes get ticked that point to a world that can't function correctly. Something like slavery and corrupt nobles/adventurers being everywhere but our MC will have views that don't reflect the world he lives in. We are also doing Demon King because there is always a demon king.

@Drinkfist This manga is filled with annoying tropes. Wouldn't surprise me if we saw some slavery of "beastpeople" and he decided to save and bring along a loli catgirl or something. The worldbuilding in this manga is terrible.

how can he teach something that he can't do?! if he uses a skill it would kill him, and I'm pretty sure that he was given that choice but he refused, this dude looked too hard headed to give up to being an adventurer

second: like some already said, he had no he in his status screen, and by what we seen you need powerful magic to dispel powerful hexes with he using ALL his life and still failing, he, the most powerful mage.

Im sure people used dispel magic on him some times, but it did nothing because he had no hexes that were shown
