Kinda poetic, but the path towards the common light has another wilder obstacle. No matter if a new hope spot for Reiji has appeared in the shape of Yuko awakening, he has to assume Yuri will flip out and do something really bloody if Reiji acts his age and on his feelings and has the balls to call off the marriage.

My mind went to when Nagi said "I..." and was going to say something, but decided to say something else instead, so I just thought "Oh, she was going to answer the question."

She didn't do anything wrong tho (if you count offering Reiji the double suicide, her redemption began when she apologized for using Reiji as an Esemori substitute, but even so, Reiji already wanted to die before even meeting Nagi).

More like Nagi awakening arc, with her taking decisions for her own happiness and developing a backbone. Especially if Yuko, Yuri or Chako if she sorts out her own things, but makes the situation more awkward if a confession is included in that sort out. This considering she is still under recovery try to tie Reiji to the town again.

The Next time on DBZ text at the end of the chapter (yes, that one that never gets TL'd in the english scans) teases about the spark being awakened. Let's see if it's Reiji's spark, or Nagi's.

I think Reiji and Nagi are suffereing from both depression and learned helplessness. They both have just been absolutely beaten down by the respective hands that Life has given then.

Reiji being the vector for all of his mother's hate and endless despair; Nagi for all the abuse she suffered as a child.

They both desperately need help - professional help - to get out of these abysses that they have been put into, and what they have created for themselves.

I sincerely hope that Nagi doesn't fall into that abyss of porn. She will never get out of it if she does, and I seriously hope that Reiji wakes up and leaves that town. The woman who saved Chako is definitely too bright for him to willingly go to, and the teacher is a walking basket case.

Everyone in this story, even Gen, deserves some kind of closure and relief from the constant pull of that dark abyss.

I guess it's kinda like a self insert thingy. I do hope the Manga will end up wholesome (which I highly doubt)
