How many chapters do we have left until this ends? Won't this end at 185 or 189 ?

Bro, I think that as soon as Reiji returns, Nagi has already committed suicide before him because she wants him to live.

There's a draft that wasn't seen yet.

https://x.com/ryo_minenami/status/1809626593847038420?t=4od6XborJIC46hUgkSHhTA&s=19

1 of two: Nagi attempted to, but got cucked by Yuri who tells her she shouldn't believe such a stupid lie (about her having killed her parents) and Yuri commits sudoku instead (paralelling Uryuu's useless death), taking her, Reiji and Mao's sins with her. And telling Nagi to take Reiji with her and do whatever they want with their lives. There's a single panel where Yuri hears all the retarded shit Mao said about Nagi's existence being painful for Mao and got a shocked face. Or 2: Nagi did wait for him and will reveal she did it because of love and wanting to let Reiji die without having regrets.

I feel the plot twist coming? Maybe they will survive? So many possibilities...

No, Yuko tells Esemori that he's come back to the town 3 times now.
1) Pretending to be Esemori's relative (which conceived Reiji)
2) At the start of the Story
3) RIght now as he is dying

Esemori reacts the way he does because he thought that Yuko didn't recognise him the first time. Hence Esemori really is Reiji's father
This keeps getting repeated, but it's wrong. Esemori acts surprised because he thinks she found out about his actual first time coming back, which is shown in the very same page: when his mother died and he ran into Reiji, already a teenager, being bullied by Gen. This meeting was the catalyst for him bringing Nagi to town, so it was a pretty big deal, but Yuko never knew about it.

He did not pretend to somehow be a younger, dying version of himself, fooling all the hospice staff, just so he could somehow convince Yuko to fuck him by pretending to not be himself. The inclusion of that character was stupid and confusing and I don't know why it was included since it really add nothing to the story, other than to justify Yuko's ongoing delusion that she bore Esemori's child, and apparently, confuse the readers.

Would be a better ending if the aliens invaded, the dinosaurs time-travelled to the present, the sun exploded and nuclear wars started. We see Nagi and Reiji holding hands, feeling satisfied, as the world caves in. :meguu:
Would be best if they just stod on the bridge and looked into waves and said to themselves out loud : Hitler was right ! . and then smiled happily jumping off the bridge

Ryou style: they have the wildest (an*l) sex in all the positions and kinks/fetishes ever conceived until fading into the river/scenery together as one as they climax.

We're finally back at the start of the series. We've taken the long-way 'round, but, let's see if Nagi and Reiji will actually do a Lover's Suicide.

Vol. 17 additional content was all about Yuuko's misery. It's just an expansion of chapter 162.

I did think the only other significant and appropriate character character could've been waiting on that bridge at the end of last chapter was his mom, Yuko. But, it seems that is was just the Town's Abyss personified, the Temptation of Thanatos/God of Death/Angel of Death. Nagi thanking Mao for "making Reiji a little dirtier" means she glad that he's given up on trying to stay alive and wants to die with her instead, but not for malicious reasons.

She has essentially been cursed by Mao to live only a life of apologizing for being alive, as well as doing all that she was told by others (and especially him). So, the only way she knows how to live, as shown when she reverted to her childhood trauma/curse of apologizing endlessly, is having to put up with the sexual abuse and exploitation in the idol/showbiz industry. As Absent666 mentioned, this is exactly why Nagi flared up with her rare expressions of rage when Esemori told her to live. She doesn't know how to escape this trauma, her Abyss, and doesn't know any other way to live. For if she has to live, she has to continue apologizing and going along with other's selfish desires, making her suffer, because she truly believes that she never should've survived alone, and was the reason for her parents' death. So this is the only way she can atone properly enough to justify continuing to live.

It's so nice to see how Esemori promised to wait for her to finish the book in their childhood, which iirc, from one of their flashback chapters, Yuko, at the time, admitted that she wasn't able to finish the book because it was too hard for her to read. So, it's while it seems like Esemori has already passed away and is now waiting for Yuko, as promised, hopefully she can finish the book or at least, hold it in her clutches, as close to her and her heart as possible. This couple were truly the shining stars of this series, the most interesting dynamic of them all, and deserved this happy ending. They will both be at peace and their "Will-O-Wisps" will fuse as one, forever uniting into the afterlife.

Also, I hope that Nagi will change her mind about "going to the ocean," and realize that what she really desires is to be loved, cherished, and the human connection that comes from having another person love you so much that they're wiling to die with you. So, why can't she see that they don't need to die for them to find the happiness, their salvation? They just need to get together as a couple and leave this town, hopefully the cycle of the Abyss and the Lovers' Suicide ends here. Well, last chapter, this is what it's been leading up to this whole time, hopefully it will not disappoint, let's go!!

That sounds interesting, could you please tell me where I can find that "Volume 17 additional content?" If it's it's expansion of Yuko's misery from chapter 162, then I'd definitely love to read it, she's my favorite character in this manga. Thanks.
