Well well, it's good to see that languages keep adapting to new times, probably from now on you'll hear more a more the term "kokushobi". In USAian terms, it translates for "it's hella hot". Our current translators (MTL or not) like @Mangamoz may be interested in this new term. And remember, for them it's not a dry weather but at least 40% of humidity.
It sounds like it was already used colloquially, but now the Japanese Weather Association made it official with a slightly different definition. 😅
(I suspect the colloquial version was just an approximation instead of anything defined. Anything higher than 35 degrees Celsius weather is indeed hot af.)

Well, that's how languages work, new neologisms are not introduced because a certain institution decides so, it depends how much new terms are used that they may considered to be adopted in formal contexts. With a simple search on your browser you'll see a lot of news sites talking about it, here's a chart with different terms used for hot weather. For non-Japanese readers, 25ºC is "Summer Day", 30ºC "A Genuine Summer Day", 35ºC "A Fierce or Extreme Sultry Day".It sounds like it was already used colloquially, but now the Japanese Weather Association made it official with a slightly different definition. 😅

I was just commenting on the fact that it's only a "new term" in the sense that it's very recent that the Japanese Weather Association officially declared it as a term they'll be using in their forecasts (that's the reason why both our browsers will show a lot of news sites talking about it), but it's a word that's been around for longer than that.Well, that's how languages work, new neologisms are not introduced because a certain institution decides so, it depends how much new terms are used that they may considered to be adopted in formal contexts. It's time to turn our friend @BakedBanana red!
If that ever happens, the first thing I'll do is turn your username black. It's time to turn our friend @BakedBanana red!
Banned: Banned.
I have never seen the mods turn a user black, I don't even think that black users existIf that ever happens, the first thing I'll do is turn your username black.
That's because in V5 they just get the [banned] tag (though the mods don't mark them anymore since some people see it as a trophy). In V3 (MangaDex in 2018 - 2021) your username would actually turn black.I have never seen the mods turn a user black, I don't even think that black users exist
yes feel free to quote me however you like
So they purged the black names huh, that's fucked up bruh. That's because in V5 they just get the [banned] tag (though the mods don't mark them anymore since some people see it as a trophy). In V3 (MangaDex in 2018 - 2021) your username would actually turn black.

I don't actually have any screenshots of what it looks like in V3, so you can have this image of what admins/supporters looked like in V3:

Yes, in that case perfect. Your previous answer just reminded me a couple of contributors who never studied Japanese but wanted to push their own preferences on metadata.I was just commenting on the fact that it's only a "new term" in the sense that it's very recent that the Japanese Weather Association officially declared it as a term they'll be using in their forecasts (that's the reason why both our browsers will show a lot of news sites talking about it), but it's a word that's been around for longer than that.
It was just to add some context to your post, so don't worry about it.
I also found it interesting how my favorite JP dictionary showed me two separate definitions and I wanted to share that.
Is it because I'm called Theodore? Odd reason.@BakedBanana Unabomber
Yeah, @BlackGeneral.Anyone I missed?
I don't remember them ever interacting with me so I would not know what they do.
