Their world is a warped mirror of our own. Due to greater variety between races, they have to be more heavy-handed than in the real world about it. It's already been established that their children's entertainment is more political than our own, in that fairy tale where the hero established democracy after saving the princess.

Whether it's a good or a bad thing, depends on your point of view. Personally, I feel that my country could benefit from a greater understanding of politics. Otherwise, the next generation of politicians would suck just as much as this one.
