that is quite the "only realize what you have once it's gone" energy between the both of them. And arguably more from her, since Takami was the one blindsided by the breakup.
I do think it's unfortunate that this series seems to be making him the "fall guy" for turning a situation comedic, when it's "played straight" for her in similar context. He gets asked out by a girl right at the start and it's treated as a joke (by both the story and by the girl herself), whereas she gets confessed to and it's turned into this gigantic "oh wait I still like him" moment of realization. Same with the group eating the cake she'd made for him on Christmas, and apparently everyone just shitting on him to varying degrees like it's all his fault, when the truth is she overheard half a conversation not about her and proceeded to let it occupy her brain right up until she torpedoed the relationship over her own insecurities.
I have zero faith that she'll own up to her fault in this (much less, that anyone will point out said fault) and it will be up to him to bridge the chasm between them and have to "win her back". That would follow the pattern that's been established the whole way through this entire "misunderstanding->fallout" arc, so there's no reason to suspect the narrative blame-game will flip the script between them now.
Which, sucks, because he's done very little wrong in the grand scheme of things that I can find, looking back. (He absolutely should have walked out of his shift on Christmas Eve, especially once he was made to stay behind because others decided to fuck off and ignore their own responsibilities...but that's really it, in terms of real, unforced errors.)
But I guess this will be a "I'll bake her a cake and say I'm sorry and I'll get grief from everyone for it" and then it'll end shortly afterward, or something.
