In all fairness, they didn't expect a spy in the first place since they didn't know how Licht's ability worked. And Tenebres knew the crew in and out (hence se was able to oneshot them the first time) so she could easily come up with countermeasures.
Everyone seems to forget that the main casts are the evil force against mankind in the first place, they only make ally with other non-human race to further their cause. That was what made this series different because we took the demon lord's side since day one, so everything they did, while evil to humanity, was what made them stronger.
I'd say the manga was set up in a way to purposefully make people forget. It's like those villainess stories where the worst the OGMC did was bully one girl only to get branded a 'villain' and executed—the entire series so far hasn't had any of the main cast really do anything particularly evil, they've been pretty much on the defensive the entire time and the story almost felt like a slice of life with Licht experiencing the day to day as a servant of the strongest demon lord.
Aria's character was more like that of a battle junkie. She felt more like someone who would go out personally to solo anyone she heard was strong, not someone who would send out their minion to indiscriminately kill random defenseless people for training.
wow making the main cast into village slaughterers killing innocent children for "combat training"/sport is one way to make you root for the "antagonist" she's 100% justified in killing them this makes them utterly unsympathetic monsters isnt this a massive character assassination of the main cast 😂😂
This disconnect is so jarring its literally flipped the script to a WE WERE THE VILLAINS KILLING CHILDREN FOR SPORT ALL ALONG LICHT HAHAHAHA literally nothing to learn from killing village children as they flee
It's crazy. Even the MC in
The Executed Sage Who was Reincarnated as a Lich wouldn't stoop to killing innocent people for such a flimsy reason as that, and he was the one who came up with the idea of creating a forever war that pits humans against demons to force them to stop fighting each other so they could fight him.
Yea, the tone in this manga has been way too lighthearted for the mangaka to suddenly drop a warcrimes chapters just a little bit before the end.
Gutter-tier writing aside, I'm equally as offended by her character design, or lack thereof. She's just....lady in generic modern clothing. Couldn't even bother to at least make her visually interesting.
It is kind of funny that the strongest character depicted in the manga was killed off by Generic Lady A. When I first saw her I thought a goddess truck-kun'd some random lady to speedrun kill the protagonist and friends because they were too OP for her to handle.
