Nope~ It will be a lot of work hahahahthank you for translating 😘😘😘
Just a quick question, do you guys now take over the animated series of this manhua too?
But lalaz, that explanation makes no sense. Opening the borders would lead not to having more illegal imigrants, but to having less of them — because to the degree that immigration rises, the immigrants in question would be legal. And while one might argue that these new immigrants, though legal, would still be providing cheaper labor by virtue of coming from poorer countries and being satisfied with having smaller salary, it is worth to remember that one of the major reasons illegal immigrant labor is cheap is because their labor is not protected by law in the way that of a native citizen is. This is especially true for minimal wage work like, I would assume, DaoXian's disastrous projects, because hiring illegal immigrants means being able to pay them less than minimal wage.In case it's not too obvious, the Manhua team's intent in making our LuXia have the "conservative" view here is to make it so that Wen DaoXian could twist her words more effectively to make her seem like the villain.
Since DaoXian's true goal is to open the borders and get cheaper labour from underpaying illegal immigrants (to use as workers for his disastrous projects), he can't exactly say all that out loud and feigns it by using an "altruistic" motive, so the public here doesn't know that that's his goal and genuinely believes he's doing it for the greater good.
However, LuXia does know why he's doing this, and so wants to prevent it by closing the borders, which, in turn, makes it seem that she wants to enclose Country H from ‘foreigners’ because she hates mixed-race families.
Do take note that PRAE scans is only here to convey what the Manhua's team wrote in their script, and aren't exactly affiliated with their views.
The note is mostly to explain the intention behind the Manhua team's script rather than justifying what they wrote, since we're not exactly into politics LOLOLBut lalaz, that explanation makes no sense. Granted, DaoXian doesn't seem to understand… most of things, even if he managed to somehow learn to use some modern technology. But that doesn't mean you have to make excuses for author's clumsy attempts to depict politics, especially if your own politics don't align with theirs.
That said, I'm looking forward to seeing Luxia's response in the next chapter.
Oof. I'm still going to read the next chapter, but this looks very bad. Those are the very same excuses conservatives give for illegalising immigration IRL, and they are bulshit by virtue of assuming that immigrants are inherently more prone to drug abuse, human traficking and organised crime compared to native citizens, the purest bullshit being the "prevent illegal immigration" part. Imagine if someone wanted to outlaw eating cucumbers in the name of preventing illegal cucumber-eating, lolThe note is mostly to explain the intention behind the Manhua team's script rather than justifying what they wrote, since we're not exactly into politics LOLOL
Do stick around and read the next few chapters to see if you'll change your mind? Since there will be more context being given compared to now as LuXia will counter-attack then
Though if you really wanna know LuXia's response:
She said these in next ch:
You’re promoting opening our borders for the sake of stakeholder votes, but this will bring various harms to our country such as drugs, illegal immigration, human trafficking and organized crime. Do you want our citizens to face the danger of waking up to their neighbors pointing guns at them?!
--
So from what I infer, it's more of a stricter regulation to prevent human traffickers and drug trade to run rampant in the country, for eg, more thorough background checks? But as said before, I have no idea about politics ahahhaha
Such a shame😂😂😂Nope~ It will be a lot of work hahahah

Imagine thinking the spoilers were because of political nature of the topic and not because the subject concerns, you know, spoilers for the next chapter, albeit minor. Wow.Before addressing this, I'd like to roll off my high-chair laughing at putting spoilers and trigger warnings onto vaguely political topics, because someone might accidentally see a dissenting view and it might hurt their little brains, that an opposing view even exists and arguments against their points also exist. Oh poor be the souls that need such pampering. In that vein, I shall remain spoiler-free when addressing this further on - because I trust that hearing an opposing view at the very least allows you an opportunity to deepen your own stance and enforce it with something stronger than "but it's the right thing to do!"
Thanks for this reply hahaha! N yes! That's what I think LuXia is talking about, controlled immigration (at least that's what I think lolol)All right, I have read all these comments of scanlators and readers here. Scanlators said they're not well into politics thus trying to explain Su Lu Xia's trap laid for him, but some readers here are politic educated including me here (part of reasons why I like Cheating Men Must Die, it is actually very political if we look it at a way Su Lu Xia always thought of) on the thoughts of immigration.
I for one, coming from Southeast Asia, where it is culturally heterogeneous thanks to local influences, Chinese, Indians, Arabs, Western; so it is open but controlled immigration. I do agree with opened borders that is for controlled immigration and global trades (free trade, I'm tired of protectionism ways Southeast Asian govs do for borderless online shoppings it's like pretentious European Union or American against Chinese or something). Controlled immigration means, anyone can come thru but they have to study local languages, customs, everything else to get job, education, and housing as part of assimilation and acclimation (if I get these two words right). Just like controlled tourism is as to protect environment from having overcapacity from both local and foreigner tourists (I am doing Oceanography essay on this one so I know what I'm talking about).
If it's uncontrolled immigration, it could lead to social friction and racism btwn locals and foreigners thus leading foreigners into their own places aka ghetto etc, thus trapped in their own ways of thinking not in align with local customs (culture shock) and can cause more troubles in the society thus crime could rise from both locals and foreigners. So yeah, we should learn from problems with immigration which is indeed a sensitive topic that needs handful of neutral essays theorizing its why's, when's, and how's for win-win solutions of everyone involved. Definitely not politicians mouthing in the news but stuff politic scholars do, you know, to stay being neutral.
In that case, I am pretty sure Xia Xia knows what she is doing as the scanlators said, to work Wen Daoxian possibly so to go against his own words as the actual tyrant and conservative here. So yeah, I did have good laughs at this episode I like it. Scanlators and readers, relax we know and we all love Su Lu Xia enough to not doubt her. >.<
-Belittles some random joe because he himself conflated them spoiling text for the comic’s literal spoilers, with censorship for ‘sensitive little brains’.Before addressing this, I'd like to roll off my high-chair laughing at putting spoilers and trigger warnings onto vaguely political topics, because someone might accidentally see a dissenting view and it might hurt their little brains, that an opposing view even exists and arguments against their points also exist. So, the problem with immigration. There is a strong correlation between the level of cultural difference and problems with it. So in that regard there should be no problem with migrations between countries that are culturally close. Today's immigration problems largely hinge on the cultural discrepancies between the incoming population and the current population inhabiting a given country.
Cultural discrepancies lead to ghettoization, due to the nature of newly arriving immigrants to be not particularly well-off (there's a reason why they're migrating) and having no social bonds within the new country. They stick to what is close to them - other immigrants. This has several effects:
- social links are not as useful to establish oneself economically, because the ones you stick with are in the same boat
- the culture shock is not a force of assimilation but becomes a force of insulation instead, leading to the othering of the preexisting population from the POV of the new one
- that othering in turn further inhibits the diversification of social links, leading to a vicious cycle
So you're stuck in a relatively bad situation with those above you being "vile infidels" or just "dumb marks" depending on the particulars. Their laws are opposed to your beliefs, they ostracize you, because obviously they're bad (nevermind the fact that you're in a culture bubble that encourages you to lash out), they're not worth associating with, etc. All in all you have far less opportunity to establish yourself within preexisting social structures.
Sometimes it leads to positive outcomes (like Chinese immigrants in the USA in the late 1800s/early 1900s, banding together and supporting each others businesses to the point of being complained about by the non-chinese populace), but more often than not it turns out negatively. A positive outcome requires favorable external conditions (ie: economic boom) and cultural traits of the incoming culture that synergize with those conditions. That is usually not the case, because even neutral conditions can lead to rather negative results (like for the Jewish population being used as tax collectors because they were culturally and socially isolated from the populace they collected from, which earned them much undeserved scorn for centuries)
All that results in the factors you've mentioned above: pauperization, organized crime, human trafficking etc. It's not the immigration - it's the cultural factors that pull people down a vicious spiral. And this doesn't even need be immigration - living in a ghetto is enough to be a drain on your opportunities and lead you down a path that is far harder to reach being a productive and satisfied member of the society. But let's not deny unchecked immigration from a disparate culture its primary role in establishing insulated cultures and ghettos.
That's not what it assumes at all, it assumes that open borders make it easier for people who already criminals in their countries to pass drugs, slaves, flee from their birth country's law enforcement and whatever illegal shit they are doing through your country for greater benefit.they are bulshit by virtue of assuming that immigrants are inherently more prone to drug abuse, human traficking and organised crime compared to native citizens
Still sound less silly than your weird 'But it's not murder anymore since killing people isn't illegal anymore!'. Removing the law doesn't remove the negative consequences that created the law.Imagine if someone wanted to outlaw eating cucumbers in the name of preventing illegal cucumber-eating, lol
Let's be honest, LuXia isn't making a 'conservative' argument, this is a chinese story with chinese characters, she's just making the 'common sense moderate' arguments that are generally agreed upon in China (managing the internet but not outright taking control of it, strong borders with tight focus on the country itself while keeping the neighbor at arm's length but not being hostile, big focus on the people at large etc)In case it's not too obvious, the Manhua team's intent in making our LuXia have the "conservative" view here is to make it so that Wen DaoXian could twist her words more effectively to make her seem like the villain.

I didn't get it at the start, but this makes a lot of sense.Let's be honest, LuXia isn't making a 'conservative' argument, this is a chinese story with chinese characters, she's just making the 'common sense moderate' arguments that are generally agreed upon in China (managing the internet but not outright taking control of it, strong borders with tight focus on the country itself while keeping the neighbor at arm's length but not being hostile, big focus on the people at large etc)
Meanwhile DaoXian is just making the classic 'capitalist pig' argument (open border with no control for cheap mistreated labor he won't be a part off, Hyper-Capitalism that borderline on barely disguised Royalism, a cult of personality and of the inidvidual, fake compassion as an excuse to unfairly meddle in other countries's affair and lowkey put them under your control / White Man's burden, a barely disguised come back of the old greedy and cruel Dynasty, he even rig the debate in the exact way China generally accuse the US of doing during their election seasons).
It's really not any deeper than that.
Refugees aren't immigrants. You can have fully closed borders on lockdown and still take in Refugees, it's a completely separate political issue from borders.I am ok with taking in refugees (especially from our own causes)
I mean that's the point in the story, it's SUPPOSED to be annoying and stop the MC from making any actual point because she'd just slaughter him, he can only win by throwing platitudes and stopping her from talking. What annoyed me is this talkshow kind of feel where the moderator doesn't moderate properly, the interesting debatable things get cut off, no deeper questions are asked and only fundamental things are said, where actually no one would disagree.
