I think the first version of the translation had a mis-translation. It was quickly fixed and on mangadex the correct translation is up. However, if you go to aggregate sites, you can see where it was translated that he died. I remember this because I originally read it on mangadex, then went to some other sites to read it because I like reading comments (that site has a pretty good comment section) and did a double take because I remembered that he only tried to follow after his mother several times.

The difference is the sister in that one actually tries to bully Weiyang, while the body Luxia occupies doesn't do anything wrong to her sister :/
