Thanks for the chapter :D
This chapter reveals that the cancellation of the Nationals affected Mio too. If it pushed Chihaya over the edge to endless self-pity, it also amplified Mio's impostor syndrome and left her with no confirmation of her actual abilities.
While we're on the topic of parallels: this chapter definitely parallels Chapter 4. Chapter 4 had Chihaya finally leaving her house to get back into running thanks to Ayase; Chapter 5 had Mio casting aside her insecurities to focus on running thanks to Hino. Now that I think about it, after they graduated middle school, Chihaya and Mio were both balanced out by people similar to the other one: Ayase is rather similar to Mio, while Hino is quite like Chihaya. The two really do need each other.
I find it funny, however, that Mio gained motivation to run from a suspiciously Chihaya-shaped child, while Chihaya just got motivated by ponkan cola lol
Looking back at chapter 1's first color spread, I wonder if Chihaya and Mio's promised 100m race will end up becoming a relay race between the Toukei Institute and Tokyo Kanbashi High School's track and field clubs that ends up reminding everyone involved to never be afraid of living in the moment. That sounds absolutely incredible to me.
