If the path is frozen, you'd slip, not trip. Probably.
Correct, if the path is frozen, you'd most likely just slip.

However, there's one safe way to trip on ice: Walk with crampons on a glacier and fuck up. You will not only trip, potentially killing yourself if you do it in the wrong place, but also most likely hit your leg and I can tell you, that fucking hurts. No, it's not like I have a big, lasting scar on my leg because of such an incident... :dogkek:

Did… did you even read the manga?
I read it, in the lens that the cheater and his partner lied, while the mum is unaware of the truth, and so the manga is throwing a red herring to reveal something down the line. I will concede that this does personally reach to me, and so may influence my perspective, but they're obviously lying to him.

I think you’re letting your personal biases color your perception too much.

I can guarantee you there's no shenanigans happened, everything's pretty much fair game. Bit of spoiler for the LN/WN if you want. Even if the mom suspect at first, It's mainly just Dad's guilt and indecisive nature ends up inconveniencing pretty much everyone. Maki's dad loves him, there's no denying that fact, but the problem is the man is pathetic AF to the point Minato tries to help him. Minato is willing to abandon him just to make him happy as stated in this chapter, Maki's dad needs him more than a new partner.

Maki's nicest outfit is his school uniform? He must have a really crappy wardrobe. I do remember feeling all grown up and fancy when I put on my high school uniform for the first time. But that got old after a week of putting on a tie every morning.

Benefit of the doubt in this case, the MC did say his school uniform was the best and most expensive outfit he owned so... yeah. Doesn't change that the author still made that conscious decision, but the author doesn't care because they know the target demographic generally doesn't care.
And it is actually quite true in Japan that a uniform will be considered a student's best outfit. It's the expected formal attire for students for events like funerals and weddings.

And while a party like this is certainly more fun than formal, it makes sense that this character who is only recently opening up doesn't have a wardrobe to be confident in.

LN comparison.

this cover is kinda genius, firstly the position of the girls, yuu is positioned so that you can see her more clearly compared to umi, this is further supported by the bright color of the dress compared to umi's, along with how sparkly (like literally) yuu is. Her clothing is also a reference to Cinderella I guess? It just gives off the vibe of a heroine, while umi feels like a side character. Without context you'd definitely think that the femc is yuu, not umi, and that's very smart since "2nd cutest girl"

what is it with mangas and the extreme trope of being "selfish". i have never seen that in real life. she wants the father to be happy because he needs his son in his life and the son says that is somehow selfish of her? what?
