Hmm... i am pretty sure the dad divorced his wife because of concern of his family. He doesn't want his family dragged around because of his work so he maybe thinks that if he himself is gone from the family, the family would be better without him (like there is a debt or he can't give father-figure person to the family). It's weird thinking so it's just my wishful thinking
It's really just as simple as, over the course of several years, him finding more fulfillment in his work than in anything else and his wife not having much interest in trying to pull him back. A tale as old as time.

My guess is we'll have to wait until the anime gets scheduled before anyone actually grabs the license. (And then wait again for who-knows how long. We're still waiting on an official EN for Yumemiru Danshi, and that was announced nearly a year ago.)

We do still have the superior WN version, though.

Seeing Maki's dad reminded me of Hood JJK where Toji tried to hoe Megumi the second he saw him.

Forgot about this part. Does she?
Thought Maki’s mom doesn’t see them getting back together either and would rather have nothing to do with him anymore.

But yes, he still cares about his son.

It reminds of the scene in KimiZero and TsureKano. Both parents aren’t seeing their relationship working anymore and moved on. It’s the children who still haven’t fully processed the divorce even after years passed.

Yeah, Maki asks if she still loves his dad and she gives quite an ambiguous answer.... and he is already 100% on the new girl....

In any case, if Seki and Amami are going to be a thing, it's gonna have to come from her side, because it's just not good for guys to keep pushing even after being rejected. As a silver lining, this guy's crash and burn that day paved the way for him and Maki to be friends especially if he doesn't intend to try again with Yuu. This helps him beat the allegations that he only wanted to be buddies while gunning for his crush.

It's nice that Nozomu realized he put Yuu on the spot and that it wasn't good. Maybe it's time for me to revise my evaluation of him. But I guess Yuu being popular works out in his favor because for her that was probably just another Tuesday with yet another hopeful suitor shot down. She didn't even remember him, and she probably does not need to remember if it's such a fairly common occurrence.

Maki's dad enters the picture. I don't remember ever seeing him before outside of references to his divorce with Maki's mom, but this seems like dark clouds on the horizon. I hope it isn't. Interestingly, him being called Mr. Maehara means his ex-wife Misaki decided to keep his name instead of reverting to her maiden name, which IIRC is certainly an option in Japanese divorces. I've seen an ex-wife get her old name back this way in another story.
