@decourcy What cases? All I'm saying is that the only reason this particular protest got so big is due to the majority of people not having to go to work.

@portable Which wall of text are you having a problem with? I write a lot of them. I'm not a twitter kind of guy, so sorry. "For every complex problem there is a solution that is simple, obvious, and wrong."
(Actually, that itself is a misquote, although a common version that I like better than the original. Just goes to show things ain't simple)
If it's ones to Tamerlane, suck it up, we're having an erudite discussion about the nature of economics as a thing and as a discipline, and you can't do that in one-liners. If it's something else I could try to boil something down for you.

To defend @Purplelibraryguy for a bit, I don't think that a long post or in-depth post is necessarily bad. (I know LONG MAN BAD is a meme in some circles that is meant to point out how it's a bit of a red herring to say that some one is wrong or that their points are in valid because of the length of their discussion.) @portable

I will agree that I would have liked him to source some of his stuff more so it would make it easier to go off of what he was saying specifically, but I'll make due.

A response is coming, though it may take a day or to in order to properly formulate my thoughts.

@decourcy we closed cause fear mongering.

Jk, the initial 15 day one was to at least figure out how bad it was, the extension to now and in some other states to..."wHeN tHeRe'S a cUrE" is just fear mongering.

Wasn't it Sweden or another country that didn't lock down and had barely any cases?

@Tlos Let me see, "Black Lives Matter"

No mention of any other lives, what the fuck is that implying, gee i wonder

Oh but saying "all lives matter" is apparently ignorant or bastardly.

To be fair, the entire field of existentialism has been debating over the question on whether our lives truly matter or not for some time. @Tlos @SunSun

@SunSun what Black lives matter as a movement was created to specifically protest police brutality faced by the black community. All lives matter was created specifically to subvert the black lives matter movement and take attention away to the issues faced by the black community. By saying all lives matter, you either fail to realize that black lives are in danger specifically, which is why the movement is black lives matter, or you purposely want to subvert the movement. :)

@Tlos "only black people face police brutality and if you say all lives matter you're just a troll"

Come to Korea town, and fucking just try to tell me that only black communities face police brutality shithead. Go to any other minority community and tell them "you saying all lives matter is subvertive"

Naw the media didn't report on it enough, so it didn't happen, the same media that's just using your fucking "movement" for ratings and views.

@SunSun I never claimed that only black people face police brutality, but it is an issue that the community faces, which led to the movement. I’m not trying to argue that black people are the only ones that face police brutality, but it is an issue faced by them which the movement highlights. Once again, all lives matter was literally only created to take away from black lives matter

>But, remember that 100 or so people a year are killed unjustly by Police, should I say White Lives Matter over the thousands murdered by black criminals every year?
inb4 13% meme
you do know that any discussion about crime statistics is completely fruiteless if one ignores the greater context of institutionalized racism and economic opression, right?

@Halo
Nobody protested because cops don't have the habit of unjustly killing white people and you know that perfectly well. you try to equate things that are incomparable for a talking point.

@pip3 Wasn't trying to. I'm just pointing out how "white lives matter" folks are nowhere to be found until black people start protesting.

@pip3 so the 150 or whatever white people killed by police so far this year was all perfectly justified? That shit just doesn't get filmed and reported on. Police brutality in the US is something that impacts on everyone, minority or not. I'm going back and forth between agreeing with things @Halo is saying, and thinking their just trolling. It's quite a weird feeling.

The vast majority of violence visited on the black community is committed by black people. There are virtually no marches for these invisible victims, no public silences, no heartfelt letters from the UC regents, deans, and departmental heads. The message is clear: Black lives only matter when whites take them. Black violence is expected and insoluble, while white violence requires explanation and demands solution. Please look into your hearts and see how monstrously bigoted this formulation truly is.

"you do know that any discussion about crime statistics is completely fruiteless if one ignores the greater context of institutionalized racism and economic opression, right?"

The context obviously doesn't matter when the violent crime rates for the richest black neighborhoods are higher than the poorest white neighborhoods.

And if they did, where are all the Jewish ghettos, surely there would be a large wealth gap between the Jewish population, and the whites right?
Surely the discrimination, and oppression of the holocaust would be as-bad; if not worse than slavery?
