ah such a shame author stopped with the wn...
Good catch. Fixed. Thanks for the translation! As always, the extra notes are a pleasure
Just a quick note though: it is Notre Dame, not Notre Dam
The light novel starts diverging from the web novel after volume 3 or so. Based on the summary, volume 6 is a completely original story. But then volume 7 goes back to events that also happened in the web novel. Mind PM-ing me what sort of diverging plot between WN and the LN?The light novel starts diverging from the web novel after volume 3 or so. Based on the summary, volume 6 is a completely original story. But then volume 7 goes back to events that also happened in the web novel. (NB: I've only read the English translation of volumes 1-3 and the web novel in Japanese)
And that's just the major story beats. In the afterword of volume 3 the author mentioned that he also wanted to e.g. increase the appearances of some secondary characters. Put it all together and continuing the (increasingly different) web novel sounds like more trouble than it's worth.
Personally, I'm happy with that, since I'm not too much of a fan of some of the last few arcs - I think the author ended up painting himself into a corner and I can't really see where he would take the story next. Making the light novel different at least gives me hope he'll change the parts that I didn't really like.
I have a question.
It just such a breath of fresh air compared to other modern fantasy manga. It's like it's impossible for the artists to have characters older than 16 or if the mc is older, usually 30ish, all the love interest tend to be 16 etc. Or if the characters are "smart" it's like the most insane sh*t, like a 5 year old who's in charge of the government or a top secret spec ops team or so over the top that they just invent scifi equipment out of thin airTo be fair, they're also well-educated adults, whereas a lot of protagonists in series like these are not well-educated at all.
I mean, the MC is a scientific researcher, for crying out loud.
Should read: "the book of fanderers".What does it say on the pedestal at the very end? It looks like "The Book of Fa??????" or something (can't make out the last word) written backwards.
I think your book is just saying “slanderer” with the old fashioned f-like initial s.Should read: "the book of fanderers".
"Fanderer" had me stumped, until I hit this , and it turns out it's a very old english word for backbiter, or "one who speaks evil about others behind their backs". Possible modern transliteration would be "backstabber", I guess.
Can't be arsed to decode the plaque at the gate though..
