Probably the worst part about what Izami is saying to Hizumi is that, she wants her daughter to "be with her, work with her and marry someone she approves", but also points out "Hizumi's father and "him" left her because "SHE" changed them"

It feels like, despite wanting to be with her daughter, Izami blames her own daughter for her husband leaving them. Like she wants Hizumi to compensate for him leaving them, by staying as her loyal servant and do everything she says in the way she wants

Even though what Hizumi did was just encouraging her dad to write his novel so he could help his wife in some way (become a successful novelist, and earn some royalties, maybe even watch the movie adaptation together)

As Izami, in her efforts to build a big company so others could belong to and make a future for her family, ironically neglected them yet still wanted for them to behave the exact way she wanted to

If anything this is what make Hizumi's relationship with Shinba different. She wants him to "stay a loser" (and if they marry, probably wants him to be the stay at home house husband); but doesn't want to control him 24/7 even when she isn't there and kinda lets him do his thing while also kinda encouraging him in her own way (while still fearful he will "graduate from being a loser" and leave her)

I already read the chapter and it's not the supposed ex-boyfriend who changed her, but her father's abandonment.

Also went to read it.

tl;dr dad did get successful w/ his novel, but that also marked the end of his relationship w/ Izami bc he became busier and his world expanded (AKA getting more places where he could belong), the fights became more frequent until the divorce happened, mom tries to drag Hizumi w/ her to america, blames Hizumi for dad having changed, Hizumi gets angry at mom and decides she'll live alone from now on. Dad also "thanks" Hizumi for his change before apathically leaving her behind. She also parts ways w/ Orochi after HS graduation after leaving bc she finds Orochi's bright hurtful to her after she was offering Hizumi to cohab together. At the university, a trio of guys were looking at her and encourage the weaker looking one to talk to her, the supposed boyfriend appears.

lots of copypasted panels from Boy's Abyss too. High School Hizumi was a visual carbon copy of Nagi. By the end of the chapter when boyfriend-kun appeared, Hizumi still had some bright in her eyes, so what definitely finished pushing her into the abyss wasn't dad's abandonment, but what the softie did

Well, the bright in her eyes you mentioned is also seen in some situations with Shinba-kun when she's surprised by him. In this case, I think the boy reminds her of her father's loser phase, hence that reaction.

What's very clear to me is that Hizumi starts to change when she's still little and begins to like that loser side of her father. However, the final blow comes in the panel where her father says his final goodbye to her, and at that moment something inside Hizumi breaks.

Now we'll see what happened with that boy, but what's clear is that Hizumi was broken by her father's abandonment, and the boy's behavior only exacerbates the situation.

Inb4, if we consider that boy's visual represents a worm. Maybe Hizumi stripped him away from all his potential and made him distance from his friends.

Besides... Hizumi going full gomennasai... gomennasai... gomennasai... such a shame we'll have to wait 'till september 5th to see the continuation of Hizumi's descent.

Really don't know what to expect from part 2 once it releases on Sept 5. This is just how I see this of how this is gonna play out in part 2.
Okay, so considering that this is first time the ex-boyfriend and Hizumi met in university, I'm pretty sure that they're gonna slowly build-up forming a friendship at first and then later on the ex-boyfriend confesses his feelings to her in a clumsy way in which she accepts. And then the others in university around him would judge the ex-boyfriend that he's not fit for Hizumi in which the ex-boyfriend loses his confidence. Then Hizumi would start helping him change maybe with his looks, studies, and the way he behaves towards others, making him reliable. This would later on make their relationship feel distant as the days go on similar to her dad. The behaviour of the ex-boyfriend would change and would start to feel inferior towards her saying he doesn't want someone who is not on his level and would start dating someone better than her, making him graduate of being a loser. Which would lead to him breaking up with her hitting her with a line "Goodbye, Hizumi..." And this would lead to her breaking, feeling like all she ever did was push anyone away by the time she helped improve someone like her father to strive better. Losing her trust to anyone in the process, until she met Shinba at the worn down movie theater alone watching movies together for days til the theater closes down for good and later Shinba attempts to confess his feelings in which she accepts, thinking in which she may have a second chance in overwriting the bad memories with a new relationship without pressing any buttons like what happened last time. Just only to belittle Shinba everytime.

IF this plays out, I dunno this is just me being a keyboard theorist lmfao, like don't take it lightly if this is bound to happen, like this is just how I see it happening cuz we'll never know if this "Him" guy was her ex until part 2 is out. Cuz I'm pretty sure that it was her ex. And if he is, I would not be surprised if the author hit us with a panel of them sleeping together on the same bed, indicating that she had sex with the ex-boyfriend. If there are any mistakes or any references that I'm misleading to this theory, you are very much welcome to point out.

I'm pretty sure this isn't gonna be the last time we see the ex-boyfriend after her farewell to Hizumi probably after the mom arc.

Or Iwaba going full Ryou Minenami-core and showing one or 2 panels of them having sex (Hizumi's nipples being censored, but showing full frontal) with either the ex showing intense frustration at her not feeling anything... or the ex having ED with her.

I won't discard (semi)explicit sex for 2 reasons: 1: 'tis a seinen and 2: the manga already showed steamy french kisses and full (blanked nipples) nudity.

I would even go far by assuming Hizumi's ex dumped her because he cheated kn her with someone that actually encouraged him to improve himself. A thing i forgot to say about the summary for Ch29.1 is that Hizumi's dad, once he expanded his wings, met other and probably better women. That shit basically discards papa having had an affair with Shinba and Suseri's mom tho lmaon't.

What sex? Hizumi literally told Shinba if she should give him one of his "first times" (when it seemed like they were going to have sex).

I forgot to mention that the author said on their X profile that we'll only get three updates about Izumi's memories. This is the second one, so the next chapter should be the last one in that regard.
