I've read chapter 29 and it seems I was almost right on the money about the guy she is hanging out with

The guy was her first boyfriend, and presumably but most likely had sex, with her lingerie showing off at his home, adding with Hizumi saying things like "You don't have to dream or work as long as you're alive, I'll do anything for you. So please don't leave" like wanting for him not to change and just stay this way. Then, she ultimately ends up getting cheated on by some girl during Christmas, and pretty much ended the phone call with a "Farewell, Hizumi". The ex boyfriend says that he's very fed up with Hizumi spoiling him but to him is more of an annoyance. The butterfly flew while the caterpillar walks off and all that. And then we get back to the present of her current relationship, where she swore to never let Shinba change with her hugging in the end of the chapter. And like I said again, this may not be the last time we get to see the ex boyfriend after the mom arc, so we may get to see more of their past. But yeah, the ex boyfriend's a dick for cheating on Hizumi.

Ha ha...
The fact that there is a pannel of her in lingerie doesn't mean they had sex. She's had very similar moments with Shinba too, and nothing happened.

She already hinted to Shinba that she's a virgin when they were at the hotel.

My honest take after seeing the raws:

What Hizumi said on the chapter 26 is starting to become a plothole because based on what the boy said "she just agrees on everything and it became boring", so this just confirms Hizumi became a Yes-girl. It would be very unusual for her having access to his apartment and sleeping over without doing anything even for once especially on that scene where she is on her lingerie. So it isnt the same on those situation with Shinba since Hizumi didn't wont to go all the way due to her having traumas.
Also another thing about chapter 26, maybe what she really meant about the term "her first" was not about the act but maybe her initiating it or maybe something else? I really dont know. Because him not even touching her once and became tired of her just doesn't make any sense.

Honestly, your view is good and valid too, but notice that guy was just as much of a loser as Shinba, if not more so, so I don't see him asking her for sex, nor do I see Hizumi giving up her first time so lightly. Hizumi often uses that attitude to manipulate Shinba, without it ever leading to anything. When her ex says Hizumi was a "yes-girl," I think he means they had a relationship like a mother who spoils her young son rotten.

The hotel scene is very relevant because Hizumi tells Shinba, "I was your first girlfriend, your first time exchanging keys, and your first kiss. I feel bad for taking so many of your first times so... should I give you some of my firsts?" (meaning Hizumi still has several things she hasn't experienced yet.) In that context, it can only mean sex. Then Shinba asks her more in-depth, and she mentions that she never cried, but I honestly think Hizumi didn't actually have sex with her ex. But maybe I'm wrong, we'll see, hahaha.

Yes, that was actually what I thought first and then after seeing that underwear only panel, she was dead set on giving him everything so that he wont leave which kind of contradicts what she said on chapter 26. I do hope we get a clarification chapter in the future on this since it really is confusing.

Ok ok, i may be finding a major plothole now. Did Hizumi actually do the deed with the weakass guy or he stopped her?

However the reason her boyfriend cucked her was because Hizumi became too overbearing and suffocating with him to the point he reached a breaking point and had to deliberately hurt her through a cold and no holds barred text msg.

I'd want to believe she was defiled by him, otherwise the thing about being tired of Hizumi without ever touching her would not make sense.

Coming to think about it, will Iwaba depict the deed when Shinba finally decides to take initiative... even if he utterly fails at properly doing it?

It could make sense that he'd get tired of her without them having done anything sexual, since their relationship was more like a mother spoiling her young son: "Don't work, don't pay for anything, don't have goals or dreams, I'll do everything for you." I still believe that in the hotel scene, Hizumi hinted she's still a virgin.

100% deserved kinda hope shinba takes a similar path
Kek... the story is about how to love a loser. No way Shinba will leave Hizumi once he gets his shit together (at least to a point that he doesn't come off as a totally different person). And unlike Hizumi's ex, Shinba was literally a loser in every sense (even to the point of not having male friends after HS), Hizumi's ex at least had a circle of friends in the college.

Just because Hizumi says that she'll give Shinba one of her "firsts" doesn't state sex as one of her firsts and also that doesn't make her a virgin just yet even if she was hinting that she is. She could be hinting at other firsts that others including her ex-boyfriend couldn't do which doesn't mean it should specifically be sex. Shinba did follow up saying that she hasn't had any first times for Shinba to take and Hizumi explicitly says that she hasn't cried but hasn't mentioned sex. The underwear panel makes it seem like she was doing the deed but the scene felt very vague and nothing much was shown so it wasn't clear if she actually did it or not, but my assumption is that they did in fact did have sex, given that she did say that she'll do anything to make him not change and leave him. Like her advances towards Shinba was so obvious that she's experienced. However, there is a possibility that he felt reserved into not doing it thinking he may mess up or maybe felt overwhelmed by Hizumi's advances, since he's also the loser/dependent type. Or maybe Hizumi would be the one to take the lead.

The ex-boyfriend scene from Hizumi's past is just the tip of the iceberg from their relationship as we didn't get the in depth detail to the whole story as well as his name. So I'm definitely sure that the ex-boyfriend is gonna appear after the Izumi arc or later. Probably gonna be a new hire from Orochi's coffee shop where Shinba and the ex become co-workers, or maybe at Hizumi's? We'll never know but the author.

I'm also interested of how the the story is gonna pan out with the mom antagonising over her daughter saying that dating a loser like Shinba would lead to unhappiness. So I wonder what the resolution is gonna look between Shinba and Hizumi's relationship when they confront Izumi? Cuz Hizumi still clings to Shinba that she felt like she found a place to belong here with him. Maybe Shinba would boldy claim that he promises to take care of Hizumi for the rest of his life even if he were to grow, and maybe mess up lol. So I can say for sure this arc isn't gonna be that long, maybe...?

When Shinba tells her that she doesn't seem to have anything left to experience, it wasn't a simple "are you a virgin or not?" question, which is why Hizumi replies that she's never cried.

The point isn't so much that Hizumi says she'll give him one of her "firsts," but the context: they're in a hotel, and Hizumi, on top of Shinba, says, "I've been your first girlfriend, your first spare key, and your first kiss. I feel bad for always being the one to take away your firsts. Should I give you one of firsts now?" while blushing. I think the situation is pretty clear, don't you? xD

Now, it's true that the image of Hizumi in lingerie is quite jarring and makes things a bit confusing, but that, in itself, doesn't confirm anything.

I hope the author clarifies this, because when Hizumi mentions giving him one of her firsts, Shinba's first thought is "the act," so I understand that Shinba believes Hizumi is a virgin xD

By the way, How to Love a Loser will conclude with Volume 6! I had been planning the story structure to wrap things up in six volumes since around the end of the bed-wetting arc. The next serialization run will serve as the final chapter, heading toward the conclusion over the last three story arcs (which might amount to about six updates). I’m going to give it my all to see their love story through to the end, so I hope you’ll stick with me!

Dame ningen will end in 3 chapters (6 semimonthly updates). So story will conclude with chapter 32 part 2. And doesn't seem yo be an axe because Iwaba had planned the structure to reach said milestone.

Btw, when did the bed wetting arc happen?

Iwaba-sensei confirmed there will be an intimate scene between Shinba and Hizumi

I think the bedwetting arc she's referring to is the chapters 28-29 aka "Hizumi's Past".

Bed-wetting also means "fear or worrying" so It could be the arc when she meets her mother, she gets inside her head and she starts to fall apart, fearing that Shinba will abandon her.
