God I hate families like this, and it's almost always the dad too.
I can't tell if the brother is actually supportive or if he's a condescending asshole, but imma go with the latter.

Did the author go on break because they were sick or just to chill?

You do be aware we are talking about Urumin, right?
Well, this chapter shows that she did pull off a great feat: healing his heart. In his weird way, he did something similar to her: be her biggest supporter (emotionally and financially XD)

Uh, did this manga really need family drama...? I'm pretty much only here for the kimiya and urumin fluff

I would've just put that last line as "my lifeboat..." to simplify things lol
I think it's not really that simple, because the lifeboat comparison was mainly implied through the one Urumin panel before that.

He makes the onomatopoeia for bubble pops because that's the sound he would make when he's drowning, a callback to his convo with Urumin about him not being able to swim.

He's basically saying that he's already drowning right there and then.

Why do you think people have an oshi? It is escapism, there is no other excuse if you follow an oshi by the letter, you are using that as an escape valve for problems you have in your real life. If Kimiya had a well-structured life, sure he could still like Urumin, but not to the same degree he stans for her now.

That's true in reality. But this is a work of fiction. I mean, I have seen more unrealistic things in manga, than a person being obsessed without a reason.
