I honestly don't understand how so many people on the official site are excited about this chapter. The action scenes are great, but what Tatsu is doing to Momo and Okarun's romance is just ridiculous. Ever since Momo lost her memories, she seems to trust and grow close to other people incredibly easily, while treating Okarun with completely disproportionate hostility. Before her memory loss, she was affectionate, trusted him, and constantly showed how much she loved him. Now, somehow, he's the one who has to overcome every possible barrier just to get close to her. And as if other girls kissing Okarun, the whole situation with Jiji and Momo sleeping together, this whole amusement park date, and a love confession that still hasn't received a satisfying resolution weren't enough, now we have Okarun physically attacking Momo. And before anyone comes at me saying he's in a frenzy and doesn't know who he's attacking, I FREAKING KNOW THAT! THAT'S NOT THE POINT!!!

The problem isn't Okarun's intentions. It's the AUTHOR'S decision to write this bullshit in the first place. We've already had Jiji choking and attacking Momo while under the Evil Eye's influence, something that pissed off a huge part of the fandom later on. Even so, she showed understanding toward him. And now the author decides to put Okarun, THE ONE CHARACTER WHO SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN PUT IN THIS POSITION, through something similar, while Momo reacts to him with nothing but contempt and hatred. And what happens when Okarun regains consciousness and realizes he hurt the girl he loves? What are the consequences going to be? More guilt, suffering, and distance between them? Another few dozen chapters just to overcome yet another obstacle the author deliberately created? And what about us readers?

Seriously, Tatsu seems to be competing with himself to see how many increasingly absurd ways he can come up with to keep these two apart. Their romance used to be one of the best parts of Dandadan, atleast for me, but now every step forward seems to exist only to set up the next disaster. I'll read the next chapter just to see what miraculous and insane solution he comes up with to get around this entire mess, which will probably not happen. But aside from the action, this chapter has pretty much cemented my disappointment in the way he writes romance.

And to think Tatsu read 100 shoujo manga to learn how to write romance, only to seemingly pick up every single frustrating trope readers are sick of and cram them all into the same relationship. And what the fuck is his editor doing while all this nonsense keeps piling up? If you don't want to develop your protagonists' relationship, then don't spend 250 chapters building up a romance just to repeatedly tear it apart. There's a difference between creating meaningful romantic tension and endlessly recycling jealousy, misunderstandings, and increasingly ridiculous obstacles just to keep two characters apart... Sure, cool.

Oh for the love of… You guys have the reading comprehension of a blind mole rat!

This is a PRODUCT of Okarun’s behaviour up to this point! It’s a PRODUCT of Momo’s amnesia and behaviour! This is WHY he’s Pinnochio!

Okarun has been hiding and sublimating how he feels since the very beginning! Every time Jiji or someone else seemed to get close to Momo he pushed those feelings of jealousy and anger right down inside himself. He’s been “lying” to himself! It’s why he’s angry at Momo as well! His jealousy isn’t just at the boys that got close to Momo, it’s at Momo getting close to them as well. And because he’s never thought about or worked through those emotions is why they've exploded and seem to be indiscriminate! As far back as the Evil Eye arc: ”Boy Okarun is getting along with this new guy Jiji so well, even though he’s making moves on Momo” NO! HE WANTS TO WRING THAT GUYS NECK! But he won’t because he sees himself as a weakling and unworthy and he’d rather Momo’s happiness than pursue his own feelings.

It’s the culmination of ALL the emotional progress for the last 250 chapters!

Oh, ffs. The irony of insulting people reading comprehension while completely missing the point of their argument is honestly impressive. Congratulations!! You figured out the Pinocchio symbolism and that Okarun has been repressing his emotions, nobody saw any of that, you must be the first! Do you want a medal for that "discovery"? None of that magically makes this a good direction for the ➡️ ROMANCE ⬅️. And seriously, the culmination of ALL 250 chapters of emotional progress?! Are we reading the same manga? Okarun has grown tremendously, developed a genuine friendship with Jiji despite his jealousy, and even found the courage to confess his love to Momo. But apparently, all that development was just preparation for him to physically attack the girl he loves. Brilliant romance writing, right? And what about Momo? What about how bad she's been treating Okarun since losing her memories? What about the endless romantic misunderstandings, the situations with Jiji and Aira, and the confession that's been left hanging?

You conveniently ignored practically everything I criticized. I DON'T CARE if Tatsu can explain every single event through supernatural powers, symbolism, or repressed emotions. I'm criticizing his constant need to pile increasingly absurd obstacles onto a relationship that has already been through more than enough. And what happens when Okarun realizes he hurt Momo? More guilt? More suffering? Another excuse to keep them apart? That's what I'm questioning.

You can understand exactly what an author is trying to accomplish and STILL think the execution is absolute garbage. Understanding the symbolism doesn't obligate anyone to praise the writing. But sure, keep talking about reading comprehension while arguing against a point I never made or other people... Apparently, recognizing a Pinocchio reference is all it takes to become an expert on storytelling or whatever. And if you genuinely believe that having Okarun attack Momo is the brilliant culmination of 250 chapters of ROMANTIC development, while having a amnsia arc that has been going for 40 chapters, then we clearly have VERY different standards for what makes a satisfying romance or read.

Between Momo’s never ending amnesia, and now this, I genuinely don’t know how this can have a pay off that will be worth all this nonsense.
Let's put our hope to the editor-kun, after 100-ish build up chapter, if it doesn't have satisfying conclusion there's definitely going to be a riot.

I just can’t picture any scenario where this is end up being satisfying. If this ends and they make up right away, basically going back to where they were before Momo got amnesia, then it’ll feel like all this was pointless. But if they don’t, they’ll just pointlessly be dragging out progress for their relationship even more.

Even if this culminates in Momo and Okarun finally getting together, it won’t be satisfying for me personally because what even was the point of this stupid amnesia arc, other than to needlessly delay them getting together?

As much as i hate to say it, i have to agree with you. It's such a Shame cause how good the story, until momo get amnesiac. Still, I'm not giving up a hope. This arc is honestly such a drag, one of the reason why i hate to read pure romance manga is because how much the author often drag the conflict to the point of making the characters acting out of character just to milk the attention of the readers. But hey, the arc ain't finished yet, maybe after the arc finished it might seems better, maybe, i hope it is at least. Lucky for us this series is weekly, cause if it's monthly i would've been crashing out and stopped reading a long time ago.
