It's a complete one eighty of her character but that said has many more times is the author going to do this gotou works up the courage to interact with agawa and she somehow some way breaks him the endless cycle is get rather stale.

What you said is true tbh, while I have never seen a plot development like this in any other romcom where the male protag faces this dilemma with the female protag and actually think it would be interesting, it is seriously dragging out the story.

If we pretend Takeda planned all this out I would have scrapped the ED arc if I was him and have Gotou catch Agawa kissing girls after coming back to school - possibly annoyed rather than distraught by what Agawa said. Kissing a girl is the most shocking thing Agawa of all people could do so it would be a funny way to get Agawa back into the story but thats just my opinion.

So despite how wordy this particular chapter is it doesn’t say much beyond reiterating what you’d already know if you’ve been paying attention to the chapters leading up to all this with Shigechi acting as something of an audience insert.
Some important points are:
A. He got ED because Agawa scolded him for being cocky
B. He believes within reason that stress is his main boner killer
C. When Shigechi asks him about why she turned him on, Gotou gives a half hearted seemingly response that her sincerity made him feel relieved in that moment

Anyway Gotou’s conclusion is that honesty and deference is the best policy so he’s:
A. Going to tell Agawa, Akito, and Shiina that he loves all of them
B. And that he wants to have sex with all of them
C. AND that he’s terrible at leading in the bedroom so from now on he’ll let them lead instead
Shigechi straight up yells “What the fuck are you talking about!? You haven’t learned anything at all!”. However, Gotou confidently thanks her for teaching him humility, which she denies, before storming off to find the other three girls.
Which leads us to the twist of the chapter

I mean Gotou’s back to square one character wise and Shigechi as much as says that, but Agawa’s business is certainly a development. I also can’t see this being the end of Shigechi’s role in the story.

I don't even see the point of having agawa in the story at this point there is really nothing between her and gotou at this point. Shia has been with him more than agawa both in bed and out there is more development between the two and akito is tied with agawa and has had more time with him agawas character has been all but removed.

I guess her purpose is to make Gotou’s life complicated as she constantly throws wrenches into the wheels of his relationship goals at the time. I also take it that Shiina and Akito are also going to say/do something that negates all the things he’s decided for himself this chapter to comedic effect.

I hope so agawa doing agawa things isn't really surprising maybe readers would be more interested in this development if there was more between her and gotou though it all just seems really inconsequential.
