I didn't know ecchi authors sold millions 😭 regularly. I just can't fathom how this work has been bought millions of times, but then againt RAG has 5 seasons so I shouldn't be surprised.

This lady has serious issues. Who actually keeps a childhood promise? She was grown when he was just a kid, and she took that promise seriously. She even moved to his school and became a teacher there, just so she could marry him when he graduates. That's wild. But even with all this, she is still a better choice than Agawa-san.

I really dont see the point in adding this new woman, Shigechi worked since it was recycling a previously introduced character so I'm not sure why Super didn't just opt for the same strategy again this arc, even Inukai was a recycled character and while bro was hated he still contributed to one of the most infamous parts of the story. Plus, I thought it was Akito's role to be person from Gotou's childhood but now she's been made obsolete. I thought Shigechi was just chatting shit when she said Akito was only with Gotou to not feel lonely but depending on how this character is handled it really might be the case lol.

While I can't fully discredit super's writing since he still manages to get millions of copies somehow, I really don't see what he's cooking. I would have rather he touched on things he set up like Agawa's warning on girls like Akito or Shigechi and Agawa telling Gotou that Shiina and Akito don't really want to be in a harem with him. Even just having Gotou interact with them would work, mainly for Akito since she seems really meaningless right now lol. Even back in the original threesome chapters we got hints about Agawa having family issues.

And if Super wants to focus on new stuff then how about focusing on the fucking FL, I'm getting tired of this retard Gotou and want to see what Agawa's getting up to (even if it's guaranteed to be a different brand of retarded shit).

I'm a big fan of this series, but I gotta agree with your frustration. This is the 1st chapter I truly feel Takeda Super's trying to drag out the series with filler, this time by introducing a new milf/childhood friend character. I think he can stick the landing if he writes this well (he's always added some character growth in every arc so far), but I'm a bit disappointed right now.

Spoiler: Lot of thoughts in return

Shigechi: worked really well as a character that taught Gotou the meaningless of casual sex without feelings. No matter what some commenters think, I don't think Shigechi wanted Gotou and truly just had sex with him out of pity and maybe curiosity due to Agawa hyping up Gotou's sex skills. Even though she's fan favorite, Shigechi's arc with Gotou is over and I don't see her coming back.

Inukai: great villain turned bro/rival, as he forced Gotou to grow as a person by being more proactive and direct with his feelings. Plus, he's gained respect for Gotou as a person, esp after Gotou cucked him with Shiina (Inukai has so many women, he'll be fine lol).

Akito: feels like she's benched right now. I think her potential isn't completely used up yet, and that she might possibly be reused later on as a serious love interest once Gotou gets solidly rejected by Agawa down the line (he's never directly confessed to Agawa). Moreso than sex, I think Akito represents the wholesome side of love, and I sense Gotou will eventually have to directly reject a sweet girl like her to be true to himself and his love for Agawa. I see Akito as the main love "rival" to Agawa, and believe she will return stronger than ever as a main romantic interest someday.

Kiyomi (the teacher): I don't think she's a replacement for Akito in the "pure childhood friend" slot, as in this chapter, we see Gotou being a bit uncomfortable with her advances, esp after his epiphany about how meaningless shallow sex can be (thanks to Shigechi). I think she's a potential yandere who might seduce Gotou, who will eventually have to get his shit together and reject her (perhaps by being reminded of his deepest desires for Agawa by someone, hopefully Agawa). But of course, there's an overlap with Akito's childhood friend archetype, and tbh I'm pretty disappointed in her introduction to the story. Leans more towards fanservice than necessary plot development imo.

Gotou: poor guy getting tossed left and right cuz Takeda Super wants any excuse to add more fanservice favs (like milf/teacher/childhood friend right now). He's grown as a character, but as of right now, def at a low - Gotou will eventually need to grow a pair and directly confess to Agawa (who will either 1. reject him or 2. agree but the 1st relationship will fail).

Agawa (my queen): She's an interesting character who's charm lies in the fact that no matter how many people she sleeps with, deep down she's just a wholesome girl who's afraid of emotional intimacy. In the most recent chapters featuring her, we see how dissatisfied she becomes with sex with her sex friends, due to how Gotou's intense romantic feelings touched her. We see this part of her in the retconned timeline, as she blushes when Gotou chose her over Shiina and struggles to figure out what to do about this situation with Gotou. Sure, Agawa sleeps around and enjoys it, but I think it's mainly a coping mechanism to hide this fragile side of her, which prob originated from family issues (missing dad, being one-upped by Shiina, etc.).

I think Takeda Super is saving her character growth for the final arc of this series, where Agawa has to confront her fears of emotional intimacy directly and also return Gotou's feelings by confessing back to him (who still has a lot of work to do to earn Agawa's heart, thanks to Takeda Super dragging this series out lol).

I think both Agawa and Gotou are growing as characters, but I do agree that it's disappointing this manga is being padded out, both to add more fanservice tropes and also to milk this series' success. There's still a lot more story to tell, but it might be a rough ride until we get back on track.

Still a huge fan, but cmon Takeda Super, please return to Gotou x Agawa soon.
