The problem with that is you have to have consistent characters before making changes via the story. This author has re-wrote sections changing character's character Then has them change back to the original behaviors without writing any story setup and payoff for these changes. Inconsistent characters are a problem and this author seems to want his characters to be all things and nothing at the same time.

At least there's one consistency. A lot of people are complaining about Agawa, but MAN is Gotou consistently unlikable. It's rare to find an MC that I want to root so hard against.

It wasn't exactly a secret what Agawa is. Gotou chose to pursue her regardless. But he's completely without conviction. "Ohhh, Agawa's the only one for me, I'll only do it with Agawa." And then he suffers total brain death and bangs her sister. (Who is apparently no longer a part of the story.) And now he's gonna bang his childhood friend so another threesome can be written in. (We just got done with the whole thing about Akito being bullied and crying because of her association with Gotou, and how he needs to be more responsible so he doesn't hurt her. Now he's just going to smash her even though he just got done telling her he that he loves someone else which should ultimately end up hurting her far worse than before, and more so than just rejecting her. And the way his actions hurt her before was incidental, what he's doing now is intentional. But by this manga's retarded logic, it will end in them having a threesome, and that'll resolve the problem!)

He's brainless, spineless, will betray any and all of his pseudo-values on the slightest of whims. He just sucks. He doesn't deserve to be with anyone. I hope his dick gets caught in a garbage disposal.

Yeah with the author re-write Gotou has gone from dedicated to Agawa to the point of not wanting to hurt her. So much so that his accidental release in her had him wanting Agawa to go to the hospital. Him talking to her friends on how to treat her well. Now he's a man whore with no ability to stick to anything he values. That I blame on the author wanting to do sexy/hentai things but unable to write a coherent plot.

Buddy, friend, Gotou’s a fucking kid, and a much more realistic depiction of one than what is featured in a majority of these junkfood tier romcoms, and I’d say far more compelling as a result. Yet you’re approaching the character like he’s a garystu MC from an isekai the author is codling as his personal self insert, which he very clearly is not.
No shit he fell head over heels for the first hot piece of ass that gave him the first ride of his life, and no shit is he naively committing himself to a girl who plainly doesn’t deserve a commitment.
Also no shit that his naive teenaged mind is super conflicted when approached by what is by all accounts a better relationship for him, and gives in when Akito presses him even a little bit.
Hell at least give the writer the credit that Gotou didn’t instantly start ravaging her the nanosecond Akito got her tiny tits out.

My point being that it’s a little bit, to be blunt, fucking retarded for you and the other critics of this series to be treating an unusually and refreshingly grounded romantic comedy manga about a horny teenaged fuck up like it’s the biopic of a canonized Christian saint.
