I think it might be. The erected relic may have been its own joke, with the one 'on the prowl' being Imp's ex.
Which may end quite badly for him, ways that may provide the party much catharsis in the matter.

I don't know what you're misinterpreting here, but this is the Neo Armstrong Cyclone Jet Armstrong Cannon. It was the Dog Clan's secret weapon that blew away the head of the Edo castle and hence opened routes to Edo from outside.
