Soprano's loved Mirei since they were kids - But Mirei's the one who was oblivious (as it goes), and her words & actions lead Soprano on and 'gave her hope, in vain'.

Interesting that Soprano might have become a model because of Mirei's offhand comment about her smile. That might have been mentioned/hinted at before, but I'd say it's confirmed here with the flashback.

And I guess that means that Soprano tore up that phot before vanishing for several years. Maybe during a fight between them? We'll have to wait and see for that.

But her twsisted view of their relationship seems to stem from "mixed signals" and what she deems Mirei's oblivious injuring of her through her behavior. So now she's back to 'get even' and either claim Mirei for herself, or ruin them both
Just as long as Mirei is only hers, I guess.
