I thought this was good at first but the MC turned out to be a cowered and the writing is slow paced as hell.

@Cleesus - at this point, MC has only three spells:
Meteor Shower, which destroys whole regions in one cast. The collateral damage would be horrible if MC were to use it.
Map Exploration, which MC is using to navigate the labyrinth and monitor the status of survivors
Fire shot, a low-level fire spell that produces a small powerless ball of fire.

Later it turns out Fire Shot is quite powerful in MC's hands, but nothing game-changing.

As far as I know - the gun is not in any way "holy". It is just a fancy magic wand.
