Legit top raid bosses all have enrage timer and/or dps/player number checks, or other solo impeding mechanics.
The author should have designated these bosses as field bosses instead…

Or, is the author trying to imply that new MMO means things are still janky perhaps….

The author tends to conflate the terms in the raws, they use the term "Area Boss" to describe the monsters, but also calls the fights "raid battles".

In terms of mechanics though, it's probably much more fair to compare the raid battles to raids in first-person games rather than regular MMOs - in which case I can point out Destiny and Borderlands 2 as having soloable raids.

volume 6 only just released this week and covers chapters 43-50

volume 7 comes out in march, so our release will be mostly biweekly for the volume 6 chapters to not have any long gaps in chapters

I've played a few mmos with open world pvp and I've gotta say, the motivation of "loot the gatherers" at least makes it excusable to camp newbies in this fictional game.
The only real mmo I can recall having a justifiable motivation to camp newbies was ArcheAge since you could loot trade packs off the people you killed, but even that was mostly just pennies compared to fighting people who could fight back... because they'd be carrying more at once.

My opinion on the whole solo raid boss thing: the thing about these VRMMO stories is that they're fundamentally different from current games irl cause the degrees of freedom with what you can do and how you can move are almost like reality. Together with DUO's design philosophy of directly rewarding raw player skill, I can sorta buy that OP players can accomplish feats that are literally impossible in real MMOs due to the limitations of what game characters can do.

Well, also keep in mind that this series' premise involves a main character who's likely some flavor of IRL half-vampire who's currently force-sleeping in a pod that's probably genderbending them as they sleep.

I wouldn't put too much weight on all the VR stuff happening having zero out-of-game consequences for any of the other big characters.

There is a massive difference between PK and PVP. People who PK are looked down by most because they are actualy bad at PVP and decide to focus on killing people who dont have a single chance to win.
They are the type of player who always get insta-kill by people of the same level. These people are the kind that are so bad that they regulary lose against people who are of lower level.

When you play a PVP game your aim is to have a fight with people who can actualy do somethings, there is no fun otherwise.

True.. the same could be said on smurf acc. Lower ranking player got pubstomped by high ranking player doesn't feel fun at any levels.
