@manganism I dont think she was trying to kill herself because in that one panel she said that the place they ended up was the place they first met, which would be when she caught up to him trying to get the porn mag from him. The other side of the fence was the not of the edge of the building, you can tell because the shinichi climbed over that fence in chap 1 and the other side was just floor, i think she was just going to climb over the fence to get away from him. If you go back to chapter 1 you can see that the area they are at is all ground floor

@noneofurbiz Why? He's had a one sided crush on her the entire time and it seemed obvious enough from an outside perspective, then she's already with someone anyway when he confesses. Making both of those things change just to stick them together later would be way too forced. If the author were to plan for this ahead of time, he'd probably have terrible character development from here to then too. It's not an interesting route to go down.
